Listen, I’m doing the best I can with what I have over here. And what I have is 100 degree weather still. So I’m pretty much faking it with colors instead of layers. It’s September and in my mind, it’s fall baby. And you know what? Mindset is everything.
So instead of layering and using too many fall textures, I’ve just used some fall hues to make the transition this month. I picked up this very chocolate brown tee from Madewell (highly recommend, on sale, too!) in a size medium and it’s perfectly boxy / loose. I paired with these off white barrel jeans, which to me fall and winter are actually white jeans season. Isn’t that funny? It’s completely flipped from a few years ago. Right now is when I tend to bust out the white jeans and these have a touch more ecru to them than pure white. These are also on sale for 25% off at Madewell!
As far as texture goes, I can’t quite layer yet but I can add on a suede bag. If you had to make one handbag purchase this fall, I’d suggest this suede slouchy tote or this leather bucket bag. (You’ve seen me carry this all summer!) Both are from Quince and they are two of my favorite bags, ever. The suede tote is more boho, more casual and the leather tote is more streamlined, chic — depending on your own style. Both can carry my 13″ laptop and iPad Pro, so they work for me as a work bag too.
One last note — this is the last weekend for the Madewell sale! A few of my picks here.

Pairing warm tones—such as chocolate brown or ecru—with suede accessories is a smart way to transition between seasons; it is eye-catching and captures the spirit of autumn while remaining comfortable in the lingering heat.
