I have collected quite a few of these athletic-ish pants…honestly I don’t know what to cal them. It’s the soft, swishy fabric that I just categorize under activewear. What are we calling them? Track pants? Coach pants? Soft pants? I digress. But I do hope that we as a millennial women collective come up with a cute name. Anyways, I’ve collected quite a few soft pants, like the barrel shape, wide leg, drawstring, etc. And I’ve been thinking about pairing them with tops other than just a tee, which is my number one go-to for this type of pant. (I did it here, as well!)

I just got this top from Madewell and thought to myself — it looks good with white jeans so surely it would look good with these light barrel pants? And by golly, I think it does. This is the type of outfit I wear when I need to look pulled together but also want to be very comfortable. Could also file under travel outfit, as well. I like the juxtaposition of the tailored top with the softer pants, too. All in all, it’s a weird combo but I think it just works.

By the way, I really like these barrel pants — and I would 100% recommend to you. These fit looser than I was expecting and actually a lot softer, and soften with wear. I’ve worn them around for a few weeks, and the large actually fits a bit big for me. So I would say if in between sizes, go down a size. If I were to get another color, I would re-order these in a medium! These are the Ruti dupes from Amazon and I love them. If you can’t grab the original ones, these are a really nice option!

I am in the large of the top, but it runs big! I like the looseness of it all. I am in the large of the barrel pants but they run big!
