hi hi! I can’t believe this week is over to be honest. It FLEW by! We had a B’s birthday celebration last weekend, all weekend practically and honestly I think it was the highlight of my whole week. Well that and the recovery time. (Partying at 41 needs some recovery time.) Let’s get to the outfits!

Friday | B’s Birthday Dinner

B and I went out to our favorite wine bar + Italian restaurant to celebrate his 42nd this past weekend. We had a lowkey little evening but little did he know, I had a surprise party ready for him the next night! And I’m terrible at keeping secrets so this one was hard. lol. I went with my quince linen dress. Super comfortable, albeit wrinkly after sitting :/ Oh linen, you never change do you?

Saturday | B’s Surprise Birthday Party

Saturday evening I had planned a surprise party at a beer garden type place for B’s birthday and wouldn’t you know…it got rained out. So instead of us having a lovely evening outside in early June, we got moved to the backroom. BUT with our  rowdy crowd it was still fun and B had a great birthday. Despite my best plans getting rained on. Oh and if you are wondering…why’d you wear a white dress if it was going to rain? IT WASN’T SUPPOSED TO! We thought it had moved past us but boy was I wrong, lol. Luckily no white dresses were soaked during this evening.

Sunday | Family Celebration

This is one of those dresses that I’m glad I rented. I like it but I wouldn’t reach for it as much and you know why? It’s the length for me. I love a longer length, I find it more flattering for my height and body type. I do love this smocked version of dress they got going on and apparently they do too because there are so many of them in stock! I find them to be flattering on my big boobies and easy to wear because it flares out at the waist. I’m in the large and find this to be the right size for me in this type of dress at Madewell. It is on sale though, if you like this more midi length dress!

Monday | WFH

I love how elastic waistbands are now chic and available in shorts everywhere now. May this trend never leave us, or rather — may I never leave this trend. The boxer shorts trend came in hard a couple of summers ago but it’s sticking around and I actually really like it. It’s a fun way to wear something other than my go-to linen shorts or denim cut offs. I paired this gingham pair with my very favorite Gap tee because she never quits on me. Can’t explain to you well enough how great this tee is, the cotton is soft and smooth, it’s non sheer and if you treat her right (no heat) she won’t shrink. This tee is my number one tee and it blows all the others out of the water IMO.

This top wasn’t delivered in time to make it in my under $50 Amazon finds post, but I love it. It’s under $20 right now and it fits like a bubble hem. I thought this top was cotton but when I went back and checked it says it’s 100% polyester. Now it has a poly liner but the fabric itself feels like cotton. Can poly feel like cotton?! I didn’t know that it could replicate cotton this well? Is this a typo on the product page? I feel like I’m huffing paint over here. But it did steam out really well / easily, so perhaps it is. It’s also lightweight for summer, so I’m a fan. (I’m in the large, fits great and loosely in this size.)

I rented this ridiculously cute fish clutch from Rent the Runway. I don’t live near a body of water nor am I traveling to the sea any time soon but darn it this fish purse is cute! Besides a little whimsy was due around here. While I did rent it, it’s from SIMONMILLER. And if you want to try Rent the Runway for 50% off your first month use this code RTRXKSKEEN

Wednesday | WFH + lunch with friend

Okay so this is the case of the disappearing top and no I’m not talking about the straps. I double checked that this top was in stock at Anthropologie when I rented it and now…she’s nowhere to be found. I’m hoping this is just a temporary glitch, because this is the most darling top. It’s cotton with a nice amount of structure, but still very comfortable to wear. Strapless has a more formal feel to me but this one feels nice and causal. I paired it with my cotton shorts from last year (they’re deadstock Quince) but I found a very similar pair at Cos! I love a poplin short, turns out.

Thursday | WFH + Errands

I wore this in the morning to drop off my camper at camp and then I worked from home. At pick up we ran some of our afternoon errands and let me tell you, these are the comfiest jeans. I’m in the large and the back has an elastic waistband, but the front is normal! They’re so stretchy, soft and lightweight. I’m in the large, could have gone with a medium but loose is loose and I’ll take it.

I just got this top in from Nuuly and I LOVE it. It’s from Anthropologie and it’s a nice denim like cotton and it’s just so cute. I love a flowy top, especially in the summer so this top is right up my alley. I’m in the large, it fits me just fine. This one just might be a keeper this month.
