I made out like a bandit at Nordstrom the other day — but a responsible bandit. (As in I paid for everything and said thank you.) I’ve been wanting to spruce up my closet a bit in things that fit me so I ran the gamut on items from dresses to jeans to jacket at Nordstrom. I tried 15 items and here are the ones I recommend!

This first one is a bit of a cheat because they are both Madewell items but the skirt is via Nordstrom, so I lumped it into this post. I know that a pale yellow skirt feels like it’s a blast from our 2008 past but I love this soft hue for spring. It’s a beautiful pale yellow, just the right hue, it’s a subtle yellow. In other words — it’s not hard to wear at all. I also like this skirt fit from Madewell, it slides on easily and it isn’t clingy. I am in the 10, it runs generously I find!

I love taking neutrals that we’ve been wearing for a few years and adding them into some more colorful pieces to mix the best of both worlds. This deep grey works beautifully with the light yellow, bringing winter into spring effortlessly. This sweater runs generously, I”m in the medium.

Find it at Madewell here.

I am here for all of the colors but I do love a black maxi. This look says I’m a scorpio and I don’t know how to spring. But as you can see the bottom half of the skirt is all eyelet, so it actually feels very spring-like and cool. The top is elastic ruching throughout the whole torso, so it was fine for me in the medium as it stretches. Now as you can see in the close up, I would need to wear a different bra than my Neiwei one but a typical strap bra should work just fine. Also the sleeves are puffy but not overwhelming or silly looking. Super comfortable, too.

LOVE this jacket from Free People and absolutely recommend. The fit is perfect — there are no weird sleeves or weird add-on that FP likes to do sometimes. It’s a boxy fit and you can size down one, this is the large and it’s a touch too big for me. It’s lightweight so it’s nice for spring, I’m hoping I can get lots of wear out of this jacket this spring. I feel like it adds to my soccer mom collection. Also there are a few other patterns, so check that out if you don’t love this one.

Size down one if you are in between sizes.

I would absolutely recommend this pair of Splendid x Cella Jane chambray pants but it looks like they are sold out. In case they come back in, I am in the large and they fit perfectly loose and oversized. The rise is quite high, just FYI which could make them a bit too generous in the waist if you have a short torso or a smaller waist. They are also quite long as you can see. I am 5’9 and they are puddling a bit on the floor. I like it, but you need to know they are a long pant. Find them maybe in stock here.

However I do love this sweater! I love the varsity feel for spring (and I posted about it here!) and this one is a soft, bouncy sweater fabric and plenty warm. Not too warm, but a nice weight for spring. I am in the large, fit is TTS. (I find Mango runs a bit snug but this is perfect for me.)

I’ve been wearing a lot of J.Crew and Madewell denim, almost exclusively so I wanted to branch out to some other denim and found a few at Nordstrom. I went with Paige and AG (scroll down for that pair!) to give them a try. It’s been a minute since I’ve bought designer denim so I err’d on the side of generous fit. I went with a 31 in this pair of denim but the 30 would fit perfectly! These are a bit too big. I’m not sure if I’ll be switching this pair out or not just yet. I really like the fit — I like the high rise and the length where it is ‘cropped’ but not too cropped. Just right below my ankle, which is perfect for me. I love the sailor pockets and the wide leg of it all. I’m literally talking myself into them right before your very eyes.

I do recommend this pair, however, while I wasn’t buying designer jeans they went up in price and it shocked me. I need Nordstrom Anniversary sale early lol. Find them here, size down.

This cardigan is from Rails and I love the colors. It’s giving Sesame Street and I love it. It’s the colors of Big Bird, no? Anyways, this cardigan is a really nice quality even though I can’t describe the fabric. It’s a textured knit, feels almost like boucle but it’s not. It does however run big! I am in the large and need the medium so do with that as you will.

Some more color coming in hot! This dress is by Farm Rio and boy do I love me some Farm Rio. I always have; I remember finding it via Anthro like 6 years ago and it felt like it spoke to my soul. Bright and colorful and easy to wear, this dress has my vote for an Easter dress or spring occasion dress. It’s not too short, either!  My booty is fully covered when I sit.

I personally think this dress runs a bit loose. I would probably be in between a medium and a large, but this is the large and the torso / arms run generous for me. I cinched the middle up to give more of a shape and it really worked. But if you lean towards the smaller size, pick that one.

Remember when I posted this cropped trench jacket? I am torn on this one so let’s talk pros! The quality is absolutely there – the fabric is a nice thick cotton that keeps its shape and structure. The buttons are a nice heavy weight, the tie belt keeps its shape and holds still. I like the cropped idea for a trench, as it makes it a bit more wearable for those of us in warmer springs.

The con for me is probably the price. She’s a pricey gal at $328. I’m really weighing if this would be a long term staple or a spring fling for me. What do you think?

Also the fit is great — I am in the large and it’s roomy in here! I could probably size down to a medium but I like the ability to layer under this as well.

I will absolutely be keeping these jeans as they are some of my favorite fitting jeans in recent history. As someone who has a bit of a tummy / rounded waist, finding jeans that dont accentuate that area are worth every dime I spend. That is this pair. AG’s quality is always amazing and lasts for years with proper care (AKA don’t wash them a lot and definitely don’t dry them). This pair looks more like a straight jean on me because I have curve, but for a straighter figure I think it would look more like a boyfriend jean. I am in the 30, fit is spot on for me!

This is another dress I am on the fence about. It’s a nice lightweight poplin and I love the fit. It runs generously (I’m in the large, could use a medium) and it is oh-so-comfy. I can imagine this with sneakers and sandals as well for summer. I really like the empire waist and how it is adjustable as well. Overall it’s one of those great everyday dresses that I look for in spring / summer. I think what makes me on the fence is the black — it also comes in white, which I’m wondering if that would be a better option for spring.

Find this dress here and let me know which color you like best!

Whether you’re covered up under a bright and colorful dress, under a black dress, or even wearing jeans, you look so stunning.

    I love and that’s a weak word.
