Hello there my friends and happy February. January was wild for us over here. I’ve got some explaining to do and that’s coming up this week. I’m putting the finishing touches on that post that touches on our behind the scenes lately. How was your January? I honestly can’t believe how fast months move by anymore. (<< this comment says ‘Tell me you are close to 40 without telling me.’)

As you guys know, I’ve been on an almost year long journey of cleaning out my closet. And you know what you guys? I think I did. I can finally see everything that I can wear and want to wear and it makes it so much easier to put outfits together. It’s actually life changing for me. I’m thinking about a whole post I can write. I had so much overage that it was hard to actually see what I have and now I can just walk right in and find exactly what I was looking for and put it on. I also got rid of everything that doesn’t fit instead of just keeping it around for ‘some day.’ Let me tell you first hand that this just clogs the pipes. If you can’t wear it, move it out of the way for the things you can. The good news is I have a whole lot more for the pre-loved shop and I’ll be updating that HOPEFULLY by mid-month!

Okay back to this outfit — you see we had a meeting to go to and I wanted to look pulled together but still casual. This outfit is the perfect mix for that: I’ve got fancy on the top, casual on the bottom. This is the J.Crew jacket from last fall but I’ve linked all the similar ones that you can re-create this outfit with. I did pair a tank underneath it for some extra coverage (this is suggested for you, too) but overall I wore it buttoned up like a top.

Paired with this pair of slightly faded black jeans, it’s a nice pairing of fancy and everyday. I could have gone with a heel but I slipped on this pair of flats and I liked how the look all came together with the gold accents from the buttons to the purse to the shoes. When it works, it just works.
