Sometimes you just need to get a little fancy.

B and I went on a little date this weekend, just the two of us. When your parents live super close-by and offer to watch your baby for the weekend, you don’t just say yes. You go out buy a new dress and heels and then say yes. This wasn’t our first date out without little G, but it was our fanciest. I’ve been living in my casual pieces since Gemma was born and don’t get me wrong, I love some soft pants and tops, but it felt really good to get dolled up again. I realized I haven’t picked up a pretty dress in a good while and when I saw this Ted Baker dress, I knew I had to at least try it on. And then once it was on, I knew I had to buy it. (My birthday is this weekend so I had a really good excuse, too. Of course, I an always find a good excuse for a pretty dress.) We went to our favorite restaurant in Dallas, the one where we usually celebrate every anniversary and where we celebrated when we first learned I was pregnant. A fancy date night back since having G seemed like the best occasion to head down to our favorite spot.

So this is usually how our date night works: B is faster than me and gets ready first and waits patiently while my one-person glam squad gets me ready. (The glam squad is me, by the way.) Then when I finally emerge from the fog of hairspray and perfume, he usually realizes I’m way overdressed and so he dresses up a bit more, too. Of course, as you’ve come to know B over the years, he’s got mad style and this time he was already dressed to the nines. He kept his look elevated but casual with this Ted Baker jacket, that I may or may not have picked out because it matched my dress. But he loved the texture of the jacket and its the perfect weight for fall. Paired with this sweater and he looked just the right amount of fancy for our dinner. I love that with men’s style, he can easily dress up a pair of denim with the right pieces. Ted Baker is good for that. In fact, if I had to pick one brand that works across the board for date night, it would be Ted Baker for both men and women.

Now if only Ted Baker made little baby clothes…then we’d all be matching and this mama’s dreams would come true. (Like can you imagine a baby version of this dress?? I’m dead just thinking about it.)

Here are a few other date night outfit ideas, for you and for him. 😉

  1. Oh I love that dress of yours, nice idea to layer the shirt under it! 🙂

Date nights are so hard to come by with little ones, so good on you taking the chance when you could! 🙂 Hope you had a wonderful night.

  2. I know you Iove your neutrals, but this pattern is absolutely beautiful! I need that jacket for my husband too. It’s been fun seeing B in more of your posts!

    1. Isn’t that the prettiest pattern!? I love it!

I’m so glad you like B in the posts! It’s a family affair around here 😉

      1. Yeah, that pattern!! 😍 It’s super helpful having more menswear lately. My husband is a terrible shopper so he likes me to outfit him, and I definitely need some new brands in the mix. Loving the Calibrate t shirts from Nordstrom you posted about a few weeks ago!
