I am still such a sucker for crop tops. Summer after summer I think I’ll move on, but I keep coming back to them. Definitely not a staple in my wardrobe, but I love having one great crop for summer. You see, I’d been ignoring crops all summer until it all started with these shorts. I’m becoming more and more picky when it comes to shorts. I’ve realized this over the years because I’m not just looking for shorts, I’m looking for the perfect summer shorts. I wear them constantly from May through September and I like to have very specific styles. Cut-offs for my casual days and the weekends, a printed pair or two for fun, a more tailored pair and then of course a high waisted pair. And I’ve learned that for some reason classic black shorts are hard to come by, so when you find a good pair you buy it. Plus, I love this look for summer because I feel like I’m getting the best of both worlds — feeling classic and chic even when it’s 100 degrees out.
So that’s how I ended up with this crop top. I initially thought I’d go for the matching shorts but instead I decided on a clean and classic pair with the perfect fit. One thing leads to another and boom — I’m wearing a crop top in front of a yellow door. I don’t remember how I got here but I don’t really mind.
(These shorts are Alice + Olivia but I’ve found a few other pairs as well! A pair under $100 and a pair under $50!)
