Best Basics

There is something about fall being right around the corner that makes me appreciate all the basic pieces in my closet. I love color in the spring but I find myself bringing down the hues towards fall and being gravitated towards neutrals like black, grey and brown. I especially love camel but sometimes it’s hard to find in the styles I want. I always love a camel cardigan, I find it to be a staple for fall and beyond. So I loved this lightweight jacket / blazer I found. It’s the perfect weight for our Texas autumn’s and I love that it keeps it’s structured shape but in a casual feel. I don’t feel too overdressed in it and it’s the perfect jacket to toss on over an easy top. I feel like I can wear it as a part of my all day outfit or just as a jacket. I’m always rushing for fall to get here but just saying the word jacket makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. You can find this camel blazer jacket here.

Speaking of tops, I’ve come to realize that I have an overabundance of white tops in my closet. I freaking love a white top. I don’t know why I am just now coming to this realization — maybe it’s because I’m more aware of white because of baby these days. Or maybe I’m just now realizing I’m a style hoarder. Both are true. But I have been leaning towards more black lately and wanted to add to my basics with a nice black blouse. This one is a crepe material, so it’s structured but shaped like a tee. A fancy tee, if you will. I actually like Eileen Fisher tops for that reason — they are like leveling up on basics. I feel like this top will last for the next decade. Which is a good thing I got it in black because I would not give a white top the same life span.

If you too are looking for a great new black blouse, I’ve found a few below that I love! Black is back this fall, my friends. Not that it ever left us. πŸ˜‰

Oh and I’m sure I’ll wax poetically about these heels another day but I LOVE them. They remind me of an old pair of Madewell heels I wore out years ago. I’m so glad to have them back from the dead. You can find them here.;)

Editor's Notes:

Jacket fits a bit oversized, so I would size down one if you aren’t super tall and want a closer fit. The top runs true to size!

Do you have any recommendations for a basic black tee or v-neck for those of us who have long torsos?
