Funny story about these shoes. Well actually not these shoes I’m wearing, but these shoes here. I had ordered these mules because I’m obsessed with the cutouts and the color for spring (plus they were on my February want list, so naturally I had to buy them) and I had them in mind for this outfit. I received them the other evening and when I went to open the box to slip them on before running out the door, they looked really small. Like really, really small. You see I’ve worn a size 10 since I was in 8th grade so I am only used to substantial size shoes in my hands. I looked the shoe over as if I’d never seen a shoe before and came to the conclusion — maybe they just look small? So I put them on the ground and tried to shove my big ol’ hoof in there. No. Not even close to barely fitting. So I realized yes these are definitely too small and I start looking for a size on the shoe box. Turns out they are a 6.5 – – a far cry from my typical 10. I immediately blame whoever packed this 6.5 and sent it to me instead of a 10. Um, seems like that’s a pretty obvious mistake right?? Who sends a 6.5 instead of a 10?? So I’m getting heated in this imaginary conversation in my head with customer service and as I’m about to call, I pull up my order to verify my order number, etc. Lo and behold guess who ordered a 6.5 and not her correct size? Just, just take a quick guess. This girl. This foggy brained girl. So I immediately apologized to the fake customer service person in my head and sheepishly hung up the imaginary phone on our imaginary conversation. I’ve never been so goofy before you guys. And that’s saying a lot.

So all that to say, this outfit worked just as well with another pair of long loved mules and I got a good laugh out of it. I can add this to the list of other goofy things I’ve done including driving my car in our front lawn, throwing away a new pair of shoes (I found them before we took them out to the real trash — whew!), and countless of tiny things every day that makes my husband kindly ask if I’m okay to which I reply — I think? Jury is still out.

Okay let’s get to the outfit! I was so excited for this skirt to come in — would you believe that floral mini skirts are kind of hard to find right now? Well believe it. This one I like because while my waist line expands, I think I can wear it underneath the bump this spring and summer. Plus I love a cute floral skirt no matter what.

Also is it it possible to have a mom uniform jacket before I’m a mom? Technically I’m a pre-mom, right? So I’m gonna say it counts. I’ve worn this jacket so, so much since I stumbled upon it a few weeks ago. In fact, today I have it on with yoga pants, a tee and my Adidas Superstars. It’s adorable, trust me. You can’t see me but it is. I love just having something to throw on that isn’t a denim jacket, although I love a good denim jacket. I just like to mix it up and this jacket is the one to do that. Pre-mom uniform going strong, you guys.

Fit Details

The jacket fits oversized but I stayed true to size for that truly oversized fit and love it! Skirt is definitely true to size.

  1. This totally reminds me of of my block heel cognac boots I ordered from Naturalizer last year. I was SO excited to get them, but when I opened the box, I immediately knew that boot was not gonna fit my size 10 foot. My mind flashed back to the reviews, and I didn’t recall anyone mentioning they ran small. I took the boot out of the box and figured they must just LOOK small. Tried to put them on – no bueno! I checked the inside – SIZE 7. SMH.

  2. He he…the 6.5 is directly above the 10 – an easy mistake to make when you have baby-brain. I had baby brain really bad with my first during the pregnancy and up to a year afterwards. I did get better between my first and second baby and it wasn’t as bad with my second and didn’t last as long.

  3. Blame your fuzzy brain on “mom brain”, baby is sucking out all of your brain cells. Mom brain is a real thing. It also will last for at least 18 years. It will get better, but won’t fully go away, I’ve heard, for, like I said, 18 years.

  4. You are a mom Kendi. May not feel like it but you are already altering your decisions for the wellbeing of your kid….that makes you a mama.

  5. Love this outfit! I wish it was warm enough here to wear outfits like that 🙂

  6. Pregnancy brain is a real thing, believe it.

I wear a similar size and I had a weird thing happen with J Crew shoes that were just mislabeled. I ordered an 11, the box said 11, the shoe said 11, but the just looked so…small. Could barely wedge my flipper in and I realized the shoe was about 3 inches shorter than my foot. After making all of my roommates, friends, etc. play Cinderella we decided it was probably an 8 or 8.5, which would fit me in about 3rd grade. Sigh. They were cute, too.

  7. Oh you had your first case of” pregnancy brain”. Just be easy on yourself , there will be more times ? .

  8. I brushed my teeth with face wash yesterday. Pregnancy brain is real and gets worse with each baby!!
