Last year I invested in a pair of Kate Spade nude heels and I never looked back. I wanted a pair of heels that would work year round — a classic pump that never goes out of style. And that’s exactly what I got. I would link all of the outfits that I wore them in but I don’t have time for that. Because it’s basically 60% of my posts from the last 12 months. That’s how much I’ve loved them and continue to love them. They are so comfortable for pumps and the heel height is perfect. If I could buy stock in a shoe, it would be this shoe.

I decided to start investing in classics in the last few years and I’m so glad I started when I did. Classic pieces are always the way to go when thinking about your wardrobe now and later. This fall the shoe that I was missing was a classic black pump. In fact I was missing it last year but I wanted to start with a classic nude pump first. (You know my love for nude shoes!) Light bulbs went off this year — why not buy the same pair but in black? It’s already a tried and true style and I know that it’s comfortable and a sure favorite. I found these in the black suede which is perfect for fall and winter. I’ve never been a huge black patent fan, so I loved the suede immediately. Kate Spade makes one hell of a classic heel.

So now that we’ve agreed that everyone needs a classic black pump, I’ve found a few for every budget and every heel preference! That’s what I like about Nordstrom, you can find any style, any color, any price range for what you are looking for. But I of course love curating my favorites, I mean if spending half the morning looking at pretty black heels isn’t the best job, I don’t know what is. I’ve linked all of my favorites below!

A few notes

Make sure the pair you choose is comfortable. You want to be able to wear your heels, year over year.

Choose classic over trendy. This classic pump style will stay in style much longer than the hottest shoe of the moment. If you are going to invest, invest wisely and stylishly.

My favorite under $100 brands are Steve Madden, Charles by Charles David (these are on sale!), and Sam Edelman (these are not quite under $100). I’ve bought and loved all of these brands and have lasted well!

Pick your favorite! These are hands down my favorite heel and would have one in every color if I could! True to size and true to dream shoe expectations.

Find similar to your dream shoes! I linked a few of my #goal shoes like these Prada heels and Valentino Rockstuds. Hashtag goals. Hashtag great christmas gift ideas if any one is reading this. Hashtag literally in my dreams.

Lesson learned — little black heels are the best.

Small note — this top is sold out! I don’t know how that happened but it did. And you know how much I hate it when I can’t link the exact thing, but I did find some precious black tops below and over to the left I’ve linked a very similar long sleeve version!

  1. You are so right about how buying classic pieces are the way to go. I am moving next week. I recently went through my closet to get rid of things I couldn’t move and found myself throwing a lot out that wasn’t of great quality. Made me wish I would have invested in fewer more expensive pieces like these black heels! Black heels are a must though! I just bought some for my new job and can’t wait to rock them for years since they were an investment!

    1. Good luck with your move, friend!!

And yeah for new job / new shoes! Time to celebrate!

  2. Love this all black outfit. I totally agree with you black pumps that are COMFY are a must have. I have a few pairs of black pumps that can’t be worn more than 15 min, and that’s kinda pointless with a classic shoe xo, Emily

    1. Ugh isn’t that the worst?? I get so frustrated when I can’t wear a pair of heels all day long, I typically return them! I have to be able to wear them 🙂

  3. finding the perfect black pumps is tough! I always think about work because the heel has to be small enough to get me through the entire office day and then maybe some fun!

  4. The Licorice pump has been my favorite for a few years now. Absolutely the best! I always look forward to each season to see what colors will be new.
