I can’t believe September is coming to an end! August felt like 175 days and September? well I barely knew her. However I did have some banging outfits this month and I wanted to share my favorites here! (I document them weekly now over on Substack, if you want to get them in your inbox weekly!) Getting dressed in Texas heat is not for the weak, I’ll tell you that much. We finally broke out of the 100s two weeks ago. HUNDREDS, you guys. So trying to mix summer heat and fall styles together has been….interesting. I cannot wait until it’s layering time. Sweater weather, jacket weather, boots weather — it all seems like a mirage in the desert to me.

One thing I wore the absolute crap out of last month was a barrel pant — may it be denim or whatever we are calling that soft stretchy fabric these days. I love this silhouette and trust me, I’m just as surprised as you. It’s kind of replaced all my other denim for now and as someone who really struggled letting go of skinny jeans, the barrel jeans have filled a denim shaped hole in my heart. Let’s get to some of my favorites! The good, no bad and the very comfortable.

These pants were something I picked up from Amazon thinking they’d be the denim look-alike sweatpants (they aren’t) but ended up just being a loose pant I love to wear. They’re a soft, stretchy knit and they wash out beautifully. (I hang to dry almost everything, just FYI.) I got the large and they fit great! Would also like to pick them up in the dark navy, too. This was just one of those easy, casual day outfits that I find myself in more often times than not.

I’ve loved this lightweight knit top from Commense. It is slightly sheer so you can wear a tank bra like I do or a camisole, either way it’s not too see through. It’s lightweight enough that I feel like it’s a cheat code to wearing a fall piece but in the summer heat.

Technically you’ve seen this outfit before, but it was one of my favorites from the month. There is just something so retro about this combo, I love it. I feel like this sweater tee is just meant to go with these jeans. (The sweater tee is 30% off right now, too!)

Okay you’re right, you’ve seen this one before too. But I like what I like you know? This pair of jeans is a great and easy everyday pair from J.Crew Factory. (on sale for under $100 right now!) They’re more of an ankle jean on me, but I love the fit overall. Perfect for right now.

I wore these silk shorts from Quince a lot more this month than I did during the summer months! I think it’s because I like wearing oversized pieces with it, sweaters, longer tops, other than just a white tee. So I think they’ll get a lot more use this fall than I was expecting! (I’m in the large, fit is perfect.)

I loved this outfit! It’s truly just a simple look but I felt so elevated in it. There’s just something so classic about a pair of white denim in the fall.

These jeans are old Zara but some of my favorites. They’re a soft denim, so they’re really comfortable to wear working from home. I paired it with an easy muscle tee from Amazon and voila! A perfect everyday outfit. I linked similar jeans since these are sold out!

These shorts became my de facto date night shorts last month. They’re just a perfect mix of casual and dressy which is typically what our date nights are. I love this pair of shorts, highly recommend BUT if I were to buy them again I’d go with the ivory. I think the ivory would be more versatile!

You’ll notice lots of sweater tanks from this month because it’s the easiest way to get a fall look with a summer heat. I did this a few times last month, so if you too are looking for an easy transition piece for summer to fall, it is the sweater vest. We can layer it later in the season, too!

Ya’ll this blazer is from Walmart?! It’s a great piece, it’s a nice quality and fully lined and it comes with these little brooches. It’s such a cute find! I am in the medium, it runs big! It is more heavier weight, so keep that in mind!

Here is that rugby polo again! It’s one of my favorites I picked up last month. I also wore these Quince pants that I absolutely love. They’re a swishy wide leg trouser but with an elastic waist. Highly recommend!

Another day, another sweater tank for September. I’ve been trying to wear these Ruti pants in an ‘non activewear’ way, so I went with a sweater tank and really liked this combo. These are the most comfortable pants, some of my favorites. I wear the 10L from Ruti, fit is slightly loose overall. I’ll link my favorite amazon dupes here, but they run big!

I love these elastic pants from Quince, they’re probably better for spring / summer so I don’t know how much longer I’ll wear them. But for now, they’re a great cotton pair of pants that looks chic but are super comfortable. They run true to size, I’m in the large!

I love this pop of red lately and I found this sweatshirt at Zara! It’s a nice washed effect, so it looks a little vintage but the color is still vibrant. Perfect combo with white jeans IMO.

I gave the Ruti barrel jeans a shot and I love them! They do run big however, these are the 10 long and I’d prefer the 8s because they’re very stretchy. They’re 20% off rn too!

Caught a little chill in the air and threw this set on! It didn’t last but this set did. Perfect parent pick up outfit in my opinion. (PS: this set is Splendid and it’s 30% off this week!)

We went to Oktoberfest last weekend and I had a different outfit planned, but time was not on my side. I ended up pairing this denim skort with my new favorite tee and it was a great match. Side note — I wore these clear jellies and I got so many looks. I couldn’t figure it out and Bryan suggested that it actually just looks like I’m barefoot. At a festival. LOL.

This outfit jumped the gun a bit on fall weather, but god I can’t wait to wear this together. It’s the prettiest color combo and I love both of these pieces from Quince. I’ve linked the darker red version of this cotton sweater, as the bright red sold out for now. I’m in the large of both!

One Response

  1. These September picks are such a strong mix — I keep coming back to the suede tote looks, especially how well suede pairs with sweater tanks as a transition into fall. The silk shorts as your de facto date-night shorts with the suede crossbody is the look I loved most; a crossbody keeps an evening outfit practical without losing polish. And the barrel pant obsession is totally justified — that silhouette works with absolutely everything.
