Why hello there, we must stop meeting each other like this. (Just kidding, never leave!) You know that feeling of you want something but you don’t know what it is until you find it? It’s been t-shirts for me lately. I’ve got all of these great, fun pants and nothing to wear on top, so I reach for the same tee over and again. And there is nothing wrong with this of course, but when your job is to make many outfits, it does start to feel like the same outfit, different day.
So I started ordering a few tees and with great luck I only had a few misses in sizing! I have loved all of these this summer and wanted to share them with you, too! I am still very much into a drapey, loose fit but if you like a more fitted tee, I would suggest this one from Quince. And if you want a 100% cotton tee, you KNOW I’m going to recommend this one from Gap. She is my one and only. My true North Star.
But for all those other outfits that don’t need a crisp white tee and are calling for a drapey knit, then I’ve got options my friends. Let’s get to the tees!
Four Tees I’d Buy Again and Again

Prepare thyself: This tee is long, longer than the others, so for me it IS a tuck in situation always. But I like that it’s longer because my Gap one doesn’t have the length I want sometimes. I am in the large, but could have easily done a medium. Overall I love that it’s loose, oversized and a nice light weight without being sheer. Oh and the sleeve length is just right, I like a mid-length to an elbow sleeve personally. It’s like capri length but for arms.

Sometimes I got through my own archives for outfit ideas — work smarter, not harder ya know? — and I remembered a muscle tee I had back in 2021 and how much I loved it! So I went searching for one but this time without the shoulder pads (although I don’t hate that feature!) This one has the look of an elevated shoulder but it’s not, it’s just an exaggerated sleeve. There is also fabric under the arm to stop the bra window gap.
I took a large in this one and I like the loose fit, but if you like a tailored look then stay TTS.

What I didn’t realize when I started looking at my tee deficient in my closet was that I was missing a very key ingredient: the grey tee. She’s elusive, the grey tee but she’s very versatile. I like this mid-grey too, not too light, not too dark but just right for that good casual feel. Plus I think this tone of grey works best with denim, but that’s just my opinion now.
The thing I like the best though is the asymmetrical hem from front to back. I like that the front comes up higher and I don’t even have to tuck it in because it does flattering all of its own. I went with the MEDIUM but this one fits VERY oversized! Medium was a perfectly oversized fit for me.

I’ve realized in my older age that I love the excitement of a graphic tee, but I don’t tend to wear them. So I am transferring my need for not just a plain white tee to a striped tee. Still very classic, very wearable but has a lot more personality than the white tee. This one with the blue and brown is perfect for fall and it goes oh so well with denim, too. I’m in the large, but it runs quite big, quite boxy at the shoulders. I’d suggest a size down if you’re petite or smaller up top.
