I just almost forgot to post my July’s Nuuly review which is a shame because it is my very favorite rental I’ve done yet. I loved everything and this was mainly what I packed for my NYC trip. This is the first time I’ve rented specifically for a trip and I highly recommend doing this. It was so nice to have something “new” to wear, but then I could just send it right back. (I did launder everything I wore in NYC! I believe in laundry karma.)

I ended up redeeming a promo code and got this month’s box for $73.61 with taxes so my numbers will look a little bit different than how they usually do. I used the same formulas, just a lower monthly total.

But first, a little housekeeping: If you are new here, I wanted to try out a clothing rental service and I chose Nuuly. Nuuly charges $98 once a month and you get to choose 6 items to wear all month long then you send the pieces back. You can check out the Nuuly website here.

Each month I calculate the cost per wear for each pieces in my nuuly box. Here are the numbers: each box is $98 for 6 pieces. (For consistency, I’m leaving out taxes here since it will differ for each state.) So if you take the $98 divided by the 6 items, it’s about $16.33 per item, if you wear each item one time. Every item’s cost of $16.33 will be divided by the frequency of wear. (i.e. Cost of item rental ÷ times piece was worn = rental price per wear). Just to go a step too far, I’ve also broken down each piece with a rating system and a review for each item below.

MY RATING SYSTEM:

⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑ = would consider buying full price / will miss it when it’s gone!
⭑⭑⭑⭑ = really liked it, would prefer to buy on sale
⭑⭑⭑ = on the fence, liked it but can’t see myself wearing that often / buy on sale only
⭑⭑ = liked but didn’t wear it at all or found it hard to style
⭑ = didn’t like it / didn’t fit

Love love loved this dress so much. Oh my gosh, just looking at this photo it takes me back to our fun little trip. I loved wearing this dress, it was the perfect mix of casual but dressed up. We went to see Lion King this night and it was a pretty good mix of casual and very casual outfits, so I liked looking a bit more pulled together. This dress is a gorgeous piece, the way it’s made, the contrast of the seams, the fit, I loved it all. The red is a gorgeous hue, slightly more orangey red and very flattering, not too harsh, just the right amount of vibrance.

“So if you loved it so much why didn’t you keep it?” Because a) this is the large and I think I needed the medium it was a touch too big and b) I didn’t know if I would wear it $178 worth again. I do miss her and I’ve been on sale watch… (sad to report she’s still full price.)

I really loved this dress as well! This was a great rental option. It was perfect for this hot day in July but I don’t know if it would be one that I would reach for over and over again. (It’s the color, isn’t it?) I love it while wearing it though and the color was part of the reason I loved it. But alas, it was for a good time, not a long time. I rented the large, perfect fit.

Now this top I kept. I loved it so much and just couldn’t imagine parting with it. Plus Nuuly was running some promo and I ended up getting it for $60! It was kismet, meant to be mine. I loved having this piece — it was a great option for our last day when I wanted to still looked pulled together but comfort was key. I ended up wearing this top many times over in July and since. (PS it’s on sale now!)

Oh this dress was also hard to give back, but ultimately I did because it was in a pretty used condition and the discount didn’t reflect that. So I figured I might as well get it new or on sale later. Speaking of, it’s on sale now! I wore the large and it fit perfectly. This dress is so soft and lightweight and surprisingly this smocked top doesn’t cling and is very flattering! It’s on sale now too…

This one was just a meh for me, which is surprising because I rented a similar top the month before and loved it. This is the floral version of the white top from the June Nuuly.  But this one had been through the washer / dryer one too many times. It was quite worn, faded and was significantly shorter than the NWT ones from the month before. That’s ok though, you always roll the dice with a rental and most of the time I ended up with excellent quality items. I still gave this one wear! But ya know, it wasn’t a fave. PS — this top sold out!

I don’t know if I ran out of time or places to go, but this dress didn’t get the wear it deserved. This is a nicely constructed dress, it’s a nice firm cotton and the tiers and smocking are impeccable. The straps are completely tie-based so it took me a second to get them exactly right, which can be frustrating. That’s my one compliant with this dress, the straps would be better (for me) if they were sewn and then tied. I did love this dress, just didn’t wear its worth. I got the large and it runs big! PS: it’s on sale now, too!
