I know that I’m an influencer but I don’t always seem to cover the same thing everyone else does at the same time. I swear to god this isn’t on purpose, I’m just a little slow on the draw sometimes. Spanx is one of these brands that has received so much attention in the last few years and I’ve wanted to cover for a while but I’ll be honest — I kind of forget about them. So when they reached out to gift me some items, I knew exactly what I wanted to try! I’ve been seeing their denim everywhere and I’ve been wanting to try them out. So I requested three pairs of denim, a pair of black trousers and a jumpsuit. And boy do I have some favorites. But before we get to the reviews, I’ve got some house cleaning to do.
One thing that I learned about Spanx is that the sizing guide is spot on. I’m kind of a weird one with sizing guides. My measurements rarely line up with the size they suggest, but this one actually did. Also every time I do the ‘true fit’ widget on websites the widget typically suggests 2 sizes up than my typical size. So sizing is usually a mix of lucky guess and my own sizing history with the brand. I did use the widget on their site and went with their suggestions (the larges) but I should have trusted my own measurements and followed their size guide along with reviews. Also can we have a minute for the consumers who leave detailed reviews? They’re the real backbone of this economy.
Shout out to spanx for their sizing guide, I don’t know this to be true but it actually seems like they put time and energy into the guide.
I’ve also listed the exact name of each pair of denim / pants below because they have a lot of different product lines and collections. I think that they all fit differently or have different fabrics, so I wanted to make sure I linked the right ones. I can confirm I triple checked and these are the exact ones I’m reviewing here.
Last but not least, they’re having a sale through tomorrow! The sale ends 2/17 and it looks like most things are at least 15% off with the discount increasing with the amount spent. If you are looking to try their pants or denim, this is a nice time to try them out.
Now on to the reviews!

SPANXshape™ Authentic 360 | 90s Straight Leg Jeans
I do have a feeling that skinny jeans will be back in the near future (not this year though!) but before we go full 2016 skinny jean again, I think we will loop back around to mom jeans / straight jeans. And honestly? YES PLEASE I BEG OF THE DENIM GODS. I loved this brief period of time in our denim history. The slightly skinnier leg, high waisted, but not fully on body con skinny jeans were my kind of jeans. I’m describing the Levi’s 501s, actually, now that I think about it. I will gladly return to those old favorites. And that’s what I was hoping for with this pair from Spanx. However my one beef with Levi’s (this is absolutely a personal problem) is that I can usually only wear them when I’m on my thinner side. Smaller waist, smaller thighs. And you know sometimes that is me, but sometimes it’s not. Levi’s tend to be unforgiving on me in the waist area and I find them hard to nail down the size so it’s arduous to get the exact right fit. If I’m not at my thinnest, I tend to find jeans with stretch more comfortable and secure. But since this is a Spanx appreciation post, not a Levi’s shade post, I’ll leave innocent Levi’s alone.
This was the pair I had the most hope for and they do deliver. However, I need the medium and this is the large. As I said above, their sizing guide is spot on. Plus the reviews help. I’m kind of in between a 29/30 right now with denim. Meaning some 29s fit, some 30s fit. So I err’d on the side of large and I shouldn’t have. The medium would have been a perfect fit. These jeans have a lot of stretch but are still very structured denim. But they don’t feel like weird mom jeans. Since these fit big, they look a bit different than on the model, a touch more wider leg here. But I do think with a true to size fit, they’d be exactly as shown. They have compression at the waist, but no weird waistband or anything like that. Very comfortable, very flattering. I would say this pair of denim runs true to size with a stretchy, forgiving fabric.
If you want a nice, everyday denim, this is your pair. It’s a nice foundation for an outfit, easy to wear and VERY comfortable. If you like a nice casual denim, this is the one. Find them here.
This is the color Elysia.

SPANXshape™ Authentic 360 | Barrel Leg Jeans
This pair I took a chance on when I ordered because barrel jeans can be a real gamble. I actually really like the trend and I like this shape on me, but I want to wear the trend subtly. No loud jeans for 2026. I’m not out here wanting to look like I just got off a horse. So when I put them on and they fit like a glove with just the right amount of ‘barrel’ I was thrilled. I’ve worn this pair the most out of all the jeans I’ve tried.
Now this pair is also the size large. They are too big overall but because of the compression / structure they’ll work just fine. However, I would happily order this pair in a medium in a different hue. (I also like to have a pair of bigger or stretchier jeans on deck for when I’m bloated out of my mind around my period.) Once again, listen to the size guide not your body dysmorphic paranoia. This pair runs true to size with a structured, stretchy denim.
If you want a more trend forward pair of denim, this is your pair. This comes in this faded black (carbon) and a blue. Both are great foundations for outfits, but if you are looking forward to spring I’d suggest the blue hue.
This is the color ‘Carbon.’

SPANXshape™ EveryWear | Wide Leg Jeans
Guess what? I ordered the wrong size in this one too! I may be wrong, but at least I’m consistent. So this pair must run generously because the large are very big on me. The medium would have been a perfect fit. I’m almost tempted to get the medium tall, for a full length moment. I like the length on the large, so I’m wondering if the medium would be touch shorter. These are inside thoughts typed out loud, so do with that as you will.
This is a great wide leg denim and it’s truly wide leg. High waisted, as you can see and the waist has compression but again no weird waistband or digging in anywhere. The fabric is thicker with stretch. Absolutely recommend these as well. If you’re looking for a great wide leg option you can wear again and again, this is a great option. The denim feels a touch more elevated than the other two, I think just because of the heavier weight. Remember it’s a true to size fit with a slightly generous fit overall.
This is the color ‘Poseidon’

SPANXsupersmooth™ PerfectFit Ponte Wide Leg Pant
I will be honest I’m not quite sure what I was looking for when I ordered these. They’re not the ‘trending’ trouser right now — you know the one, the wide leg menswear inspired trouser. In fact, they kind of remind me of the editor pant of the 2000s. But let me tell you — when I put these on…I felt good. I felt like the best version of myself in these. They’re slimming and flattering and so comfortable. They do have compression but the waistband did not roll down while wearing them. What a win.
I read the reviews and went with the mediums in this pair and I’m so glad I did. They fit like a glove, if not a touch more fitted at the waist but that’s pretty typical for me. I also got the TALL and again, so glad I did. I would probably only wear this pair of pants with heels and I love when a pant goes to the floor. These are 3-4 inch heels and you can see where they hit on me. (I’m 5’9″). If you are under 5’9″, the regular will be plenty long. I think they probably run long in general, because without heels this pair was slightly pooling on the floor.
The only meh about this pair of pants are the fact that they don’t have pockets. I understand why, this pair is more fitted all over and it would create a crease / line. But I do miss a pocket. They have a visible seam down the front as well, but this did not bother me one bit. I usually don’t love a visible seam but perhaps the black hides it and I truly didn’t mind it.
This pair is a great foundation for workwear in my opinion. Especially if you travel, these would be a rockstar in your suitcase. True to size fit. You can find them here.

SPANX AirEssentials® Mockneck Jumpsuit
This is obviously neither a pant or a pair of denim, but I have been very interested in their AirEssentials line so I thought why not try a jumpsuit? I had to double check but I’ve never owned a thing from their very popular AirEssentials line. After trying this jumpsuit on, I get why this line is popular. The fabric is soft and bouncy, mid-weight so it’s not hot but not thin. I didn’t have any visibly panty lines, which was nice and while I wouldn’t say this fabric ‘holds me in’ it is very flattering overall. The thickness of the fabric creates a nice smoothness all over.
After reading reviews, I went with the medium in this jumpsuit and it fits perfectly. Apparently their AirEssentials line runs a bit generously and I would agree. This jumpsuit was easy on and the fit was right in between a 8 and 10 as a medium. The top was long enough too, as someone with a long torso jumpsuits can be a tough go. (Note: the top is separated from the bottoms in the back. I’m not quite sure why — if this is for form or function — but it did not show any skin, which I was afraid of.)
I’m in between on the length for this jumpsuit. If I were only going to wear it with heels, as seen here, I’d go with a tall length. However if I’m going to swap it for flats or sneakers, I’d stick with the regular length. I’m kind of in between the regular and tall length on this one at 5’9″ so keep that in mind.
This would be a great outfit for travel as well, I can imagine it’s pretty wrinkle resistant and you can dress it up with heels or wear it with sneakers as a travel day ‘fit. I’m trying to figure out how I’d style it with a jacket, because a blazer wasn’t the look (the mock neck made it too stuffy with the blazer) but I’m assuming a denim jacket is the way to go. Will report back when I figure it out!
