I’ve been sharing my date outfits lately and you didn’t even know it. This dress here and last week’s blue striped maxi were worn on our Sunday dates. We’ve realized that we can shoot a little Sunday afternoon and roll right into a happy hour or a dinner. So I tend to save my fanciest outfit for that shoot. (And yes, this is my fanciest outfit of the week hands down. Remember when I used to wear heels on the daily!?) This dress is adorably 1960s. The linen is lux and fits so well, it’s beautifully tailored. The little scallop hem and details throughout make it just the right amount of feminine without going childish. Scallops draw a fine — yet curved — line; you want just enough for the detail but not so much it turns juvenile. This dress tickles that line perfectly, especially with the back details and the buttons. I can’t get over just how cute it is. If it had cheeks, I’d pinch them non-stop.
This dress is also very wearable. I know this because I sat outside in July at a hightop table. The chair was uncomfortable, but the dress was perfectly comfortable to sit in and move in. 10/10 recommend and I’m noticing the yellow is almost sold out but the white is an extra 60% off! How adorable would this be for a bridal situation!? Anyways, find this dress at J.Crew here!
Side note — I’ve been into J.Crew for a while now but they are truly coming alive. I don’t know if it’s the creative director or what but their styles are inspiring and the fit is back to where it usually is. Like I can guess what size I’ll be and I’m usually right. I love when brands align their sizing across the styles they carry. But if you haven’t given J.Crew a peek in a bit, you should! They just dropped their late summer collection and it’s gorgeous. See it here.
