Okay… so I should probably come up with actual titles for my posts instead of the date. But today is done so… it’s noted for tomorrow. Also please enjoy my amateur Christmas manicure that I did with Gemma and I’ve yet to take it off. She’s reminded me it’s January and we need new nails, so expect new nails soon and probably art directed by a 6 year old.

I’ve realized something in my TWO DAYS of doing this challenge (I’m a fast learner apparently): so much of how I put an outfit together for the internet depends on if the item is in stock or not. Now I say these things with full vulnerability and transparency, so please be gentle with me. I also say this because I’d like to get away from this habitual way of thinking like this when I create content and recognizing the thought is the first step. It is wild that when an item isn’t commissionable any more, it goes into the ‘not for the internet’ pile. (But also… it goes into the pre-loved pile so…silver lining?) Today I had two things in mind that I wanted to wear and both are not in stock pieces. However one outfit I had in mind doesn’t work with my time of month (fun fact: in my teens I thought TMI meant time of month. I know that doesn’t make sense because it’s literally not the same letters as the acronym and I won’t be explaining my teen brain any further but now when I think about TMI, guess what I’m thinking about? That’s right, my time of month…which technically my TOM is a TMI so I feel like young Kendi was on to something.)

The other outfit which I hope to wear end of week or next week requires white jeans and while I will happily wear white jeans to an outdoor even on a rainy day, I can not allow this to happen on my TMI. I know my limits. I also won’t go camping or swim in the ocean during this time, but again TMI. So today’s chosen outfit was this chambray dress from last year Madewell that I only wore….once on the blog. I’ve worn it a couple of times IRL but this dress is relatively untouched which is a damn shame! It’s a gorgeous dress and it’s super easy to wear and I’m comfortable in it. Plus it made it past one of my many closet clean outs so I was excited to wear it. I saw a similar look like this on Sezane and I knew that I could re-create this look with these boots and this last year Madewell dress. Also look ma, no leggings!

Fit Details

I am in the medium of the dress, it runs generously. I am in the 10 of the boots but need an 10.5 / 11 if I want to wear thicker socks.

  3. I’m loving this, kendi. Hopefully, there’s a balance between only commissionaBle links and what you really wear. You deserve to make money for your content and also in love with this realness that seems to be missing on the internet lately. I’VE followed you for many many years and this feels like connecting with the real you again. Congrats on being brave enough to try this!
