I think it’s safe to say that this year has really shaken up a lot of ways that we do things around here. From how we work from home now (lol forever) to what we do for fun (who knew family walks was a thing!), becoming our own baristas, and even down to buying groceries. We had the bulk bump back in March but we soon realized we don’t need to continue to shop that way. And since we eat almost all of our meals at home now, I have to be a lot more strategic with what we buy. Our grocery budget seemed to have skyrocketed at the beginning of spring but I’ve since figured out how much we cook / eat each week and I’ve got it down to a science. Now with Walmart’s Online Pickup and Delivery, I’ve got it down to a schedule, too. I’ve cut my budget down to half of what we were spending before, just because I can see easily what we need because I can shop while INSIDE MY PANTRY. It’s insanely meta. Plus I don’t have to get out of my car. I know 2020 has been a lot of things, but one positive is all the curbside pick ups. My dream of never getting out of my car is finally coming true.
Have you used this pickup option before? I’ve used curbside for other retailers before but never grocery! In fact, it was my sister who told me about Walmart’s Online Pickup and Delivery! She’s been using this service since it began a few years ago and she LOVES it. We all know Monday is her pickup day. She’s a mom of three and grocery pickup for her saves her the most time. For me, I like to use it for a few reasons. A) because it keeps me focused and on budget, because, I know this is gonna surprise you, but I can spend money ANYWHERE and B) I can find new items without feeling rushed down the aisle. I’m a browser till then end and sometimes it’s just too busy in store to slowly browse. Just this week I found three new organic items online and added them to my pickup list to try.
Plus, I love that they keep my favorites in the app or I can reorder my cart from the week before with one hit of a button. It’s all so easy, it makes grocery shopping a no brainer for me. As far as the pickup goes, you schedule a time that works for you and everything is contactless. Use the app to let them know you’re on your way and where you are parked (they have designated spaces) and then pop your trunk. An associate will load your car and your receipt is sent via email or in the app. That’s it! It’s so simple and easy. My grocery shopping went from a few hours a week to a 15 minute trip over for pickup with no additional markups or extra charges on purchases. With Walmart’s Online Pickup and Delivery they also offer a money back freshness guarantee, so you are always able to reject an item for a full refund.
I also wanted to share one of the easiest dinners I pull together every week and you can get everything from Walmart’s Pickup and Delivery! This is seriously the easiest go-to and healthy meal! Pairs well with wine, too 😉
First, I chop and roast my veggies. I toss them with olive oil, kosher salt, pepper, garlic and usually toss rosemary on the sweet potatoes. (I add a little bit of lemon juice on the Brussels to make them extra delicious.) I roast my veggies for about 30 minutes at 425º giving them plenty of room between each other so that they roast and not steam. Social distancing for veggies, if you will. You can also roast your veggies in an air fryer, if you’re short on time!
For my bowl, I’ll start with a Quinoa and Brown Rice packet (Gemma loves these too, very kid friendly if your kid likes rice!) and I dump it in the bowl. Then I take my roasted veggies and put them in the bowl, slice up some avocado and if we have left over grilled chicken, I’ll toss that on top too! Sometimes if I’m feeling fancy, I’ll scoop a spoonful of pesto in the bowl or I’ll do a balsamic glaze over the top.
That’s it! You’re done! It’s an easy + healthy dinner or lunch option and everything is available for pickup!
