Pretty sure the author didn’t mean to write that to inspire crop tops on a 35 year old woman, but an author doesn’t get to choose their audience. So here I am: cropped and topped, like one of those Gen Z’ers and their TikTok machines.
So let’s talk about the elephant in the room: where’s my belly button? I honestly do not know if it’s under the shirt or the jeans. I *think* it’s tucked under the waistband but we may never know. I will say that I wore this to the grocery store and to grab some tacos and I felt so cool. I can’t decide if it’s the top with the puff sleeves or the sneakers. I always feel 10% cooler in Veja’s. This top is pretty cropped so I sized up one (I’m in the large). It’s kind of a cheap thrill — not that it feels cheap, but it’s inexpensive and trendy. It’s literally all the things — cropped, polka dotted, smocked, puffed. This top would also work with a midi skirt as well, a high waist one. If you’ve ever bought a high waist skirt and thought, what kind of shirt do I wear with this? It’s a top like this. Now you know.

Yay! So for this look, I pulled all my hair back with an invisbobbie, in almost one movement. I didn’t brush it too much because it gets oilier / worse looking the more I fuss with it because my hair is fine too. This is second day hair so I have dry shampoo at the roots to give me some hold and then I hairsprayed it down! Super easy but it did take me a few tries to get it right!
I went and had my hair cut short because of you. Have any suggestions on how to achieve this style? Now that it’s at this length, my hair has a really smooth texture.
