So since I’m at the shop most days now, I thought it might be nice to show what I wear during the week to work in. Somedays it’s casual, somedays it’s dressy; just depending on what I’m doing that day. My agenda usually changes day to day so I try to plan accordingly. (If I’m dressy I’m usually out on the floor, if I’m casual I’m in the back.) These are few outfits from the last two weeks of being open. I’m going to try to photograph as much as I can during the week so that I can make this a weekly or at least bi-weekly thing, if you’re into it.

In other exciting news from this shop girl — West & Lou is now online! It’s a small collection for now with more coming next week (AKA holiday dresses!!) But I’m so excited to share it with you guys this first collection. Lots of blood, sweat and tears we’ve put into the site over the last month so I’m so glad it’s ready and online. (Okay, no blood was shed. I’ll be honest — that was dramatic of me.)
A few of my favorite West & Lou pieces right now:

  1. Love it! Can't wait to see more Shop Girl inspo! And so excited to get some West & Lou to the east side of the States!

  2. So lovely! What are West & Lou's hours? I couldn't find the info on the website.

  3. I think it's a great feature idea. Plus this way you can showcase more of your store pieces and how they work in real life 🙂

  4. I love this idea, but I hope that when you post regular outfit posts that those are outfits you actually wore (maybe on the weekends, but I'd hate for it to turn into something where you post multiple outfits during the week but post different outfits in this series, which makes it seem like you didn't actually wear your regular outfit post outfits, if that makes sense). Holy long sentence!

  5. Can you give me details on that hardwood floor? I love the floor in the close ups of those shoes. Did you pick this or the owner of the building? Thanks!

  6. Love this idea for a series. Congratulations on getting West & Lou online. You have a great selection so far. So exciting! 🙂

  7. Congratulations on your amazing accomplishment opening the store! I checked out the site and noticed a couple of things you may want to address. The sign up request coming up on every page load is really annoying- just the once is enough. The pumps say 'by Seychelles' are by BP. please do not take this as a put down in any way. Working in IT makes a girl be in compulsive QA mode all the time. Otherwise it looks great.

  8. Hey girl — thanks for your thoughts! The pop-up is actually set to show 1x every 30 days and just on the homepage, so I'm not sure what the glitch was on that. I wonder if you go to it again today if it stills pops up? And can I ask what browser you are using? That would be extremely helpful if you are still finding it to pop up on every page! Oh and yes on the BP pumps! After hours of making pages, sometimes I go a bit cross-eyed 😉 Thanks again!

  9. Our landlord picked them out! I am not sure what they are exactly but they are more of an ash grey and they are a laminate, not hard wood 🙂 It's amazing the fakes they come out with these days!

  10. Yes, so usually in outfit posts those are outfits I've worn during the week or if we go somewhere outside of work. But I typically only post 3-4 outfits a week and when I'm in the shop 6 days a week, I'm left with a few extra outfits that I could be sharing. So that's where Shop girl outfits came from 🙂 Plus I don't always shoot the casual outfits as outfit posts so this is a way to share my more casual outfits too. Thanks for your thoughts!

  11. Great to see your outfits of the week in this format — but do you have enough for both this post format and regular outfit posts? Just worrying about all our outfit changes and the resulting laundry you'll have to do. Haha!

I love those peep-toe mules! Also really like your second outfit with bare legs and a chunky sweater. The outfit is a contradiction that looks really cool!

  13. Awesome! Thanks so much for replying. 🙂 I'm looking forward to future Shop Girl posts (well and all the others, too, of course)!

  14. Okay good! If it happens again, let me know and I can see if I can fix it! Glad there are no more pop-ups 🙂 Thanks again!

  15. Well, I don't know if I'll be able to do it *every* week but think every other week or so I can definitely pull it together! Laundry on the other hand…that is definitely something to be concerned about. Mainly because I let it pile up always 😉

  16. Glad to help. Your blog has been a nice escape from the daily monotony for some years. Keep up the awesome work!

  17. Then please keep these posts coming, as it's a great format that feeds out hunger for fashion in the best way possible! Laundry is actually the only house work that I like to do. Dusting, vacuming and cleaning floors are the worst. When I'm richer(er) I'm getting a cleaner…

  18. Hi Kendi! I LOVE seeing these shopgirl outfits that you are wearing on a daily basis at work! It feels so REAL! So many blogs seem contrived, but yours is authentic and wonderful, because you have chosen to be so genuine with your readers. I've been a devoted fan for the last 4 years (although I've just become tech-savvy enough to comment, yes I know – welcome to 2014). I'm so excited to see you've had the opportunity to open another shop and continue pursuing your dreams. You are truly an inspiration, Kendi, both with your style and your approach to life!
    Warmest Regards,

  19. I'm definitely into seeing what your wearing for work!! both the causal and the dressy – it gives me inspiration for mixing up my own work outfits P.s. Good luck with the shop it looks amazing in the photos. If I wasn't living in Sydney, Au I'd be there checkin it out in a heartbeat
