I wore this yesterday. Somehow I’ve gotten behind on my outfits. It must have been that one day I only wore bottoms and didn’t take pictures. It messed everything up. Maybe I’ll post two today? Twoday? Ha, I don’t even care if you laughed at that one. It gets me every time.

I don’t know what I’m going to do with this light. We started taking pictures at 5:20 yesterday and by 5:30 it was almost dark. I’m going to need to talk to somebody about this. Are you there God, it’s me Kendi. No, not Margaret, Kendi you know the girl who takes pictures of herself every day? Oh Margaret does that too now? Weird, well never mind.*

So I forgot to celebrate my blog birthday yesterday, but it in fact has been one whole year. I am a little stumped as to how I should celebrate a blog birthday. Besides lavishing myself with gifts, cards and flowers (which I did) a day late, I’m not really sure what else to do. As with most birthdays that I forget, there is always next year.

*Please tell me you get the Judy Blume reference. If not, I’m not sure we can be friends.

  1. I did not but I did however smirk at the "Twoday" so I'm calling it a push.

I can't believe you've only had your blog for a year! What a difference 12 little months makes…

  2. Happy blog birthday! Before you know it, it'll be a teenager!

And yay, Judy Blume. I saw a reprint of Are You There God? the other day and I was kind of upset at how different it looked. I prefer the old, old copy I rented out of the library. It has character!

  3. I loved JUDY BLUME!! and you are a sagittarian as well? I knew it!! my bday is friday.. Of course you would be so popular on here.. you have all the perfect qualities!!!

    Happy belated bday!! xxo J

  4. Oh good 'ole Judy. Haven't thought about her in a long time. And I didn't realize Margaret was style blogging now – I'm gonna need to find her blog immediately {hehe}.

    26 and Counting

  5. you must be in one of those friendly time zones. around here, i'm lucky if i catch the tail end of the sunset around 4:30.

  6. holy cow, it was still light at 5? I guess you are on the far west side of central time, though, right? Because in St. Louis it's dark at 4:30! And I LOVE these deep maroon/wine tights, so pretty!

  7. I totally get the Judy Blume references. I love all of your outfits by the way! Do you buy from any vintage shops on etsy? I love persephone vintage.

  8. i SO get the judy blume reference. i still have my copy of "are you there God? it's me, margaret." its tape-covered and very ratty. love.

  9. happy bloggy anniversary!! can't believe it's only 1 year for you!

and this outfit is lovely. i love the oversized sweater paired with the skirt and all of the colors and textures are unique and really come together. beautiful!

  11. Happy Blog Bday! And well done on the Judy Blume, gosh I miss that woman's writing. Anyways, I love how chic and easy this outfit is, those shoes are just amazing with the little mini. Super cute!

  12. This post title should be changed to, "Are you there, Blog? It's me, Kendi."

I believe I read that book only 4 or 5 thousand times as a child.

We must, we must, we must increase our bust.

  13. Wow, one year can be so different to different bloggers! So besides saying "Happy Birthday Kendi Everyday Blog!" – I'd like to add my congrats to you for finding your nitch! Or is it niche? Whatver, spelling isn't important on blogs, right? 😉 You have done some amazing stuff in one year of blogging, I can't wait to see what year two holds! Cute outfit too. 🙂

  14. You are by far my favorite blog! Love your style, your look, and your since of humor. Your gorgeous in a way that doesn't have to be flaunted, I hope you enjoy what you do!

  15. 1) Any post that references Judy Blume is perfect.
    2) If said post also has a pun in it ("twoday"), all the better.
    3) Love this outfit. Love love love it.

    Hope you're having a good week 🙂

  16. consider yourself lucky! It's pitch black by 5 o'clock here in Portland! I have no idea how a style blogger would survive here! Love the color of your tights 🙂

  17. I love this outfit! I have tights in a similar color and I'm obsessed with them. I love the skirt, too! You look great!

  18. Congrats on your one year Kendi! Although I have only been following your blog for a month I have become a true fashion and absolutely LOVE the way you put together an outfit! Its also very inspiring to see your creativity in making older items new again and using what you have-fabulous on all accounts.

Your comments are also a riot, oh man Judy Blume takes me back–keep it coming 🙂

  19. love this outfit. perfection in my book. those SHOES are to die for!!! the sweater, oo-la-la! the necklace. wiping the drool from my keyboard! 🙂

    happy blog birthday!!

  20. They Judy Blume reference made giggle! "We must, we must, we must increase our bust." Buwahahaha! Oh the things young girls wish for!

Great oufit and happy blog birthday to you!

  21. Random: Every time I come on this blog, I read it as "Kendi Errrday," rapper style.

  22. I loved the Judy Blume reference- we should totally be best friends! Happy blog birthday! It's been a year of sweet outfits and great pictures. Since you're a day late, I suggest apologizing profusely, while at the same time pretending that it was all part of the plan (like you're just saying it late not because you forgot but so that you can stand out and be special) – that's what I always do when I forget someone's birthday. Even with the light being crazy, ya'll still managed to get some great pictures- what's your secret?

  23. this outfit is my favorite from this 30/30. i love the look of that shirt tucked in with the jade tights 🙂 fading light's working in your favor with the color combo, too, i think.

  24. Only a year?! And you're such a star! Happy blog birthday to you!

It gets dark where I am around 4:00 now and I hate it. You'd be taking pictures in darkness if you waited until 5:20…I'll join that conversation with you and God if you need some backup!

  25. Judy Blume was my favorite author as a kid! I have to say I was very confused while first reading that book because of the references to "belts" and "straps" being used with maxi pads. By the time we were kids, they had moved on to sticky tape! hah

  26. Kendi, are you losing a ton of weight or something? Girrrrrrrl you look fabulous as usual, but don't waste away before our eyes! Keep representing for us mid-sized/healthy/happy gals!

  27. Birthdays are the great, opening presents makes it so much more fun!

I can't wait until finals are over so I can finally wrap some. It taunts me every night. They're saying "Justine, wrap me!"

    Just Better Together

  28. Hi Kendi,

    Lookin mighty gorgeous as always!
I hope u dont mind, but I made a post about you and your lovely outfits..

  29. I like that you take pics @ sunset. the backlight of the sun gives you a glow around your hair.

I'm so scared to try on maroon tights. How do you pull off everything so well?

Keep up the remixes. They're greaT!

  30. Love this!! The casual sweater tucked into the fancy skirt is such a great holiday party look… I might copy you.

And I loved Judy Blume. Got me through some serious 12 year old angst.

  31. Well happy late birthday!

And hooray for the Judy Blume reference! If anyone doesn't get it, they probably didn't attend school in America. Which is okay too. 🙂

I love that flowy blouse tucked in to the skirt – so cute!

  32. everytime i think i've found my favorite outfit of yours, you post one reeking of cuteness and it changes! so precious. please take me shoppping, plz.

  33. You need to adapt the tradition of the "birth-week" – it gives you the right to celebrate for 7 days the fact that it is your birthday (and gives late gift-givers and well-wishers a chance to get their act together!!) 🙂

I actually was going to comment that I love the lighting in this post – really, really pretty – and love the mix of the comfy sweater with the dressy skirt (is that the first time you've worn the skirt in the challenge??)

    Small Time Style

  34. @dressingontheside — are you just trying suck up? telling me I look all skinny on my blog birthday. I promise I'm not wasting away! Although I have been working out, not to lose weight but in order to not lose muscle control at the age of 30. I think it might just be the outfit and dark tights, because I do look skinny. But I'll always represent the 6/8 club, it's just the way I'm built and proud of it!

  35. Wah, you have the LOFT skirt! I wanted it, but accidentally ordered a size too large. By time I realized my mistake it was sold out. Looks fantastic on you!

    Happy blogoversary!

And yes, got & loved the Judy Blume reference!

  36. Um … of course I got the Judy Blume reference. Her books were/are classics!

    Congrats on your blog birthday!

  37. Totally tmi but I'm sure you won't mind. What is super hilarious is that when I "became a woman" [isn't that the stupidest phrase ever?] I was at my grandmother's house and all she had were old school vintage lady things complete with the clips and belt. Just like the kind Margaret struggled to figure out.

    Happy belated blogrthday.

  38. BAHAHA, love the Judy Blume reference! The "Weird, well never mind." made me laugh out loud by myself. Too funny. I am lovvving this outfit! You look fantastic! And I hear you, it is dark here by 4:30 now, which is just ridiculous. While I love December and the festive feelings and approaching holidays, I do miss the days of summer where as long as I got out to take photos by 9pm, I was good. I'm limited to weekends now!

  39. I love the soft jumper combined with the edgier skirt here – this outfit is perfect!

    X

PS. I saved this one straight to my favourites folder! I've done that with about 80% of your blog, though… unsurprisingly, my latest outfit was a little Kendi inspired 🙂

  40. Really, the Judy Blume reference kind of put the post over the top (in wonderful-land where there is always cotton candy and wine) for me.

  41. I'm right there with you; it's too dark when I leave for work and too dark when I get home! I try and dash home like a crazy person, over expose like it's going out of style, and pray the photos look relatively decent.

Either that or invest in professional style lighting.

  42. belated happy birthday! aww blog birthdays are always so nostalgic haha. i cringe at everything i wrote in the past year.

you on theo ther hand have so much to celebrate. what a success and in one year at that. 😉 here's to more blog birthdays and awesome outfits. i really love this sweater of yours

  43. It was dark here at 3:00 pm yesterday…3 PM! My outfits don't even stand a chance! Loved the Judy Blume reference, and of course, this outfit! Chunky knit sweater plus leather skirt equals genius! Happy Blogiversary Kendi xo

  44. At the risk of gushing… Your outfit and the lighting in these pics are my very favorite yet. You look stunning.

Wow! It's only been a year since you started this blog? Holy Moly. How incredibly awesome. What a successful year it's been!!! Super impressive.

    Leaving The House in THIS?!?

  45. A) Loved the Judy Blume reference! Can you have God send me Margaret's blog? I'm curious to see how she grew up.

    B) I love this outfit even MORE than all things Judy Blume! Yeah, I went there…

  46. happy freaking blog birthday! you should celebrate by eating something tasty! 🙂

I did love judy blume growing up! Now that I'm about to become a permanent resident of dc I will be getting a library card and I think I'll be getting some Judy Blume books to reminisce…

    Emily//TheLesserPanda

  47. Happy blog birthday! Yeah, Judy Blume rocked. I feel you on the light issue; I live in London (England) and it gets dark (like, properly pitch dark) at 4:30. I get home from work at 6. I have no idea how to take a decent outfit shot!!! Let us know if you come up with any ideas (or if God gets back to you on that one!)

  48. I'm sure it's getting more and more challenging with the light but it gave such a soft, dreamy effect to your pix today. Happy blog b'day!

And yes, I most definitely get the Judy Blume reference. I worked at my Jr. High library which pretty much insured I'd never make friends in the 7th grade, but I did probably get to read every book ever written for teens.

  49. My boyfriend and I live in an old adobe home with thick, cell-phone-signal blocking walls (which is fine, after all it keeps the aliens at bay, right?). It happens quite often when one of us is out of the house and calls the other (grammar?) the call fades in and out depending where the recipient is within the house. I take great joy in shouting "Are you there, Martin? It's me, Margaret!" into the phone until the signal returns. He never gets it. I'm glad you do. And yes, lovely outfit.

  50. happy blog birthday!
The light in the last couple of photos looks fantastic! the sun might be going down sooner, but it's making your photos gorgeous!

  51. I knew it was Judy before you even said it, they shold write more books like that for kids now!

    Happy birthday to your blog!

Also, love that outfit, it's so simple and chic 🙂

  52. It seems to be the anniversary of a bloggers this month. Makes sense to start something in december, takes off the pressure of January. Great blog and continue!

    Joyeux Anniversaire!

  53. This might be one of my favorites. I love the slouchy top paired with that skirt. It looks like leather?

Also, totally on that JB reference. If somehow a girl grew up without JB, it was a sad childhood indeed.
