lazy |ˈlāzē|adjective ( lazier , laziest )1 unwilling to work or use energy :2 unwilling to pick out clothes for the day, usually blames unusually slow motor skills in the early AM hours :3 slow moving and/or too tired to care because she stayed up way too late watching that dang Say Yes to The Dress show.
See also: only ironed husband’s clothes for the week, did not iron any for herself in an act of selflessness.
This is how I define a “but I don’t want to get out of bed” outfit. My husband’s ironed shirt, jeans and a bun. My only saving graces today were the red heels, lipstick and an animal print belt. You can fool anyone with an animal print belt — only people who mean business wear animal print. Everyone knows that.

  1. If this is lazy I need to be even more lazy all the time.

See that girl with the flat greasy hair, ill fitting pants, flip flops and chipped pedicure? Thats me. Thats my kind of lazy!

  2. Ditto Tania. You look DAMN awesome, and ten times as damn awesome as I EVER look. 🙂

  3. this outfit is amazing! its exactly what you call effortlessly chic in my opinion. the fact that this is your i dont wanna get outta bed outfit, really does make me wanna have more days like this. loving it!

  4. You guys — good photography hides the greasy hair, ok? BUT THANK YOU. You are all precious and if I could kiss you all I would. Even if it made you feel uncomfortable, I would do it.

  5. What is it about men's shirts that look so good on women? Every women looks freaking gorgeous in a plain white men's shirt.

And I know those earrings! I love love them 🙂

  6. Hey wuteva. Crisp white shirt, jeans, pop of colour? It may not be trailblazing but it's still classic and stylish as all get-out. And pretty much foolproof! (PS those earrings rule. Oh, Jess LC.)

  7. I think you need to teach much of America how to dress on a lazy day :). This is my fave line of your post: "You can fool anyone with an animal print belt — only people who mean business wear animal print. Everyone
knows that." I'm going to wear my leopard J Crew animal print belt more often now!! 🙂

  8. This is my favorite kind of outfit. I love jeans and white shirt. Seriously, can you ever go wrong with that? I don't think so.

  9. If this is 'lazy,' you need a fourth definition: "dressing super cute despite lack of energy." And put a picture of you.

  10. if I looked half as good as you on my lazy days I'd be thrilled!! also I wish that men's shirts fit me that well… my 5'2" self just gets swallowed!

    beautiful as always!

    PS. lusting after those earrings

  11. Sometimes simple equals sexy and stellar. Love this outfit, and the Jess LC earrings are awesome!!

PS – I love that you stayed up way too late watching Say Yes to the Dress – because of course, I have done the same thing. Solidarity in numbers, and all that, right? 🙂

  13. love the simplicity of this outfit! you look so cute yet chic. also … great call on the red heels!

this doesn't feel lazy at all! I guess your trickery worked!

  14. love it! I think classic outfits always work and are anything but lazy! Reserve that word for the people who refuse to get dressed when they got to target!

  15. HOW on earth do you style a man's shirt so perfectly?! I'm not one to wallow in jealousy, but seriously I need to pace for a while. If I tried to wear my husband's shirts I would look like I was in an Abba cover band. (Oh wait, he's uber European and loves his metallics…maybe it's not my styling that's the problem!)
Tutorial on "how to rock a dude's shirt", pleeeeease?

  16. Very nice, classic outfit! If you want to take lazy to a whole new level, try getting your guy to start wearing Brooks Brothers non-iron shirts. Expensive but totally worth it, I haven't had to iron my husband's shirts in years.

  17. When I first saw this I was like, "Ehhh…" I've never been into the jeans and a white top thing; it's a little too cowgirl for my taste.

Then I noticed the red pumps and leopard print belt.

    Genius!

You just made me a convert. =]

  18. aw, i have seen other girls wear their husbands shirts…you are so lucky that you can fit in your husbands shirt! my husband has broad shoulders and is pretty muscular and there is no way i fit in his shirts, i've tried…i swim in them! haha. lookin good for a lazy day!

  19. I like the way you write . So much to the point.I have no words for your style.Divine and simple. Thanks for the inspiration.

  20. Kendi-
Do your red UA shoes fit true to size? I noticed the website does not have half sizes and that's what I need! 🙂 Also, where did you find that red belt that goes so well with the shoes?

    Lauren

  21. Hahah – So sad that your nothing to wear day looks better than my try really hard days!! You look unforced and gorgeous… the belt and red shoes really make the outfit!

  22. Lauren —

My shoes do fit true to size. They are pretty comfortable too, I just wouldn't want to walk too far in them (around the office is great though!) Maybe some insole inserts (whatever those are called…) would work if you bought a size larger??

My red belt is from Gap in 2007 or 2008. I'll keep a look out for more of them!
