I have no idea why this jacket makes me feel like a boss, but it does. And when something makes you feel boss, you buy it. Those are the rules, I didn’t make them — I just follow them.
These pants get better with wear. I broke them in last week with this post, wore them a few times over the weekend and I think that they fit even better this week. I love when that happens. I’ve had another pair of Genetic Denim before and I had the same experience with them. I like when denim settles and doesn’t stretch out; that’s when it starts to fit to my shape. The downside to this is that it makes me never want to wash them. (Don’t worry I do…eventually.) This pair is no exception; one day they will get washed and I’ll have to start over and wear them again and again until they fit perfectly. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it.

  1. Love the jacket, love the maroon jeans! You said at the end that you don't wash your jeans often. How often do you wash them? I might be over washing!

  2. LOVE the outfit!
Is the white tee you have on opaque or sheer?
I've been looking for a good oversize white tee but they all seem to be so sheer, what do you do then? Just put a cami on underneath? Are there any good ones that don't require a cami?

  3. This one is in between sheer and opaque…like I'm wearing a black bra with this one (?) And you can see my bra but not really. If I wore the correct color of bra it would be fine. But its definitely not fully opaque, if that makes sense! I don't think you would have to wear a Cami, but again its not opaque so if a little bit of sheer bothers you then maybe pass on this one!

  4. I am the same way with jeans. The more I wear them, the better they fit. I hate washing them for that purpose alone. This outfit is so chic. Love the trench!

  5. I love that coat! Banana Republic Sloan pants are like too. I have three pairs and I wear them almost constantly. Pants that relax and fit your shape but don't stretch out are the best. I'm thinking of buy a couple more pairs of black ones and I can wear a different pair everyday!

  6. Boy is that trench a case of looks better on. I would not have given a second look by the Topshop pic. Great blog, thank you for keeping me from working. ;c)

  7. I would not have looked twice at that jacket scrolling through the website, but it's the first thing I notice about this outfit! You styled it perfectly!

  8. you aren't REALLY supposed to wash jeans (especially if they are 100% denim!) Throw them in the freezer to de-germ, and spot-wash any dirty spots.

  9. Don't feel bad about not washing your jeans! They wear out faster if you wash them.

  10. OK, gotta say that the coat is what totally caught my eye in this post, but I never would have considered it if I'd seen it on the Nordstrom site! You make it look fabulous!

  11. Agreed! I heard some crazy theory about putting them in the freezer to kill of bacteria instead of washing them if you really don't want them to lose their shape, but I haven't gone that far yet 😉

  12. I started reading your blog for your outfits. Now, I just love every word that comes out of your fingertips.

  13. Kendi, what size did you get on this coat? I can't decide between the 4 or 6! I'm 5.7.5 and 145lbs.

  14. Whoo! Love that coat! Lovely shade. And I can see what you mean–it actually reminds me of a coat Regina wears in OUAT. Interesting.
