blue on blue

We took pictures of my outfit in record time today: 7 minutes. Oh yes. That's efficiency. But really it was because cars kept passing through the alley way where we were shooting and I was getting nervous. Like sweaty nervous. And that's never good. The last car just stopped and stared at us and I awkwardly side stepped out of frame back to our car. Maybe they were just waiting to take pictures for their outfit today, I sure hope so. Or maybe their car stalled out and they needed us to jump them. They were waving their hands and yelling help...

Anyways, back to me. I've been thinking a lot about cobalt blue and what I could do with it. (Total "Waiting for Guffman" reference -- anyone catch it?) As I was drowsily fumbling through my closet this morning I stumbled upon this top and remembered I had a pair of tights that matched perfectly. I had to go through a few versions of skirts before I got the right one. This skirt came to me by way of my mother. She has an enviable skill of finding gems on sale. I believe this skirt was $20? Outrageous. It's also a size too small. Hey -- you win some and you lose some and I never turn down free.

Speaking of blue, did you ever see that Arrested Development episode where Tobias wants to join the Blue Man Group and so he paints himself blue? Well I feel like him today.

There's got to be a better way to say that.

Love your shoes. Your review of the F21 shoes (and you always looking so darn cute in them) convinced me to buy them. I'm anxiously awaiting their arrival. I keep putting together outfits and thinking, "this would look awesome with those shoes!"

Oh goodness, Arrested Development was/is my absolute favorite show! It was hilarious and yes, Tobias constantly making (unintentional?) references to his homosexuality was one of the best sources of that hilarity.

But to comment on your outfit - I love the blue! Normally I'd think something that matched so well was juvenile but I really like this entire combination. I also like that most of it comes from Target. Just another example of not having to spend a fortune to look fabulous!

Love AD! Still hopin' for a movie. This look makes me want cobalt tights even more. And I have not seen ruffles so lovely at Target and must get myself back over there (have a $10 gift card, which only means I'm going to spend too much beyond that...oh no).

Oh wow, I LOVE this idea of continuing the color of your top with your tights, it's such a nice little visual trick. You look fantastic, and an Arrested Development reference/video is always personally appreciated :)

That is FUN! I just bought a pair of cobalt heels, and seeing your blue inspired outfit makes me wish I had the tights and shirt to match! Not really, that would be too blue. But still, it's an idea. Love your site!

I love the outfit. I love that top. I love Aressted Development. I hate skirts that are a size too small, though on you it's impossible to tell, but I bet you were uncomfortable.

Love this! I have the same skirt but have never styled it like this. Definitely am going to do so before the weather gets warm!

I adore that episode! And really? That skirt is too small? I was just going to say that it is really slimming, and a nice fit. Also, I love the way it breaks up the blue.

Isn't it fun when you realize your bright tights have a mate? Those blues are marvelous together.
