This month was a bit underwhelming for a rental month. I had two pieces I absolutely loved and wore over and over again, but the other 4 items went unworn for the most part. Now technically I am the one to blame for this, but it feels early to start pointing fingers ok? I’ve already made my order for next month so let’s hope it’s a more prolific box!

But first, a little housekeeping: If you are new here, I wanted to try out a clothing rental service and I chose Nuuly. Nuuly charges $98 once a month and you get to choose 6 items to wear all month long then you send the pieces back. You can check out the Nuuly website here.
Each month I calculate the cost per wear for each pieces in my nuuly box. Here are the numbers: each box is $98 for 6 pieces. (For consistency, I’m leaving out taxes here since it will differ for each state.) So if you take the $98 divided by the 6 items, it’s about $16.33 per item, if you wear each item one time. Every item’s cost of $16.33 will be divided by the frequency of wear. (i.e. Cost of item rental ÷ times piece was worn = rental price per wear). Just to go a step too far, I’ve also broken down each piece with a rating system and a review for each item below.
MY RATING SYSTEM:

⭑⭑⭑⭑ = really liked it, would prefer to buy on sale

I loved this tank! I love the fit and the linen is super nice quality, not sheer or anything and it kept its shape most of the day. I am in the large and I like this looser size for my bust / under arms. No notes, just a nice easy top that I wore a lot this month!

April is such a weird month for me at Nuuly because it’s spring but our weather is all over the place. I end up renting shorts a touch too early I think, which is the case with these. The other issue was the sizing. When I first got them at the beginning of the month, they didn’t fit so I just cast them aside. But by the end of the month (I’ve been trying to lose weight this month by walking) they ended up fitting! So unfortunately I didn’t get a lot of wear out of these but after a few pounds lost they fit a lot better! I would rent these again or even just buy them. I love Madewell denim shorts and they fit like always. This pair is a bit more lightweight than others, has lots of stretch and they fit true to size. This is the size 30.

This one was a missed opportunity for me, honestly. I really loved this top so I’m sad I didn’t give it more love. I can’t really say why I didn’t wear it more, but I think it’s because I hung it up in my closet and since it’s white I just didn’t really pay attention to it. But overall I loved how flowy it fit and it’s easy to wear. You can see some bra straps but it didn’t bother me too much.

I gave it 2 stars because it’s probably right for the right person, but that person was not me. The sleeves are quite puffy and broad and when you mix that with my broad shoulders, I looked like if Minnie Mouse was a line backer. I thought it was the shoes but trust me — I tried every type of shoe. It was, most definitely, the dress. I’ve posed in a way here that you can’t tell but in person it was the strangest proportions. Again, it’s well made and was cute in theory but on me, it was not. If I wanted to go as an M&M dressed up as Minnie Mouse for Halloween, I know who to call.

Wow wow wow did I love this dress! I wore it for everything this past month. Date night? This dress. A school event? This dress. Tuesday? This dress. I really loved it and honestly? I loved it as a rental. I’m going to keep this in mind moving forward with Nuuly, dresses might be my rental sweet spot.
It fit me perfectly. I got the large and there is a liner with this dress that is sewn in so it makes it a bit more fitted / tailored once you get everything situated. No gaps or anything, just an easy to wear dress with a nice length too. I loved the lemon but I think if I were to buy it, I’d go with the white.

This was an unfortunate fit for me. I’m typically a 30 in Frame with some wiggle rooms so I thought I’d be safe in a 30. But in this pair of shorts there was no wiggling and absolutely no room. They were also very short, if I wanted them buttoned I had to pull them up higher on my waist which meant higher on my legs. This is why there is no evidential selfie. The internet has been through enough.
Cute shorts but a bit too short and too tight for me.
