The Madewell Insider Event is officially here, and if you know, you know — this is one of the best times of year to invest in those pieces you’ve had your eye on at Madewell. (They do this even twice a year, once in spring and once in fall! It’s 25% off your purchase and that’s about the highest site wide discount Madewell runs on full priced items.) I went into the store, did my best shopping and rounded up a few of my favorite spring picks that are worth every penny, especially at the sale price. Note: I stand by each piece on its own — each piece would add something to my closet and hopefully yours. If you are looking for a versatile spring dress that will work through summer /early fall, I got you! Two pairs of jeans that are novelty but very versatile and a couple of blouses I know I’ll wear over and over this spring.

Let’s get to my picks and you can shop the sale here!

The Perry Mini Shirtdress in 100% Linen

Loved this dress way more in person than online! The fabric is linen and it’s a great weight as well. It’s a kind of a mid-weight linen, not sheer as some linen can be and the linen holds up the structured silhouette well. Which is great because this dress has the best shape! It comes in at my natural waist and the flounces out around my hips. It’s a really nice shape for bigger boobs too! Also the length is perfect, I wore it over the weekend on a windy day and it was plenty long!

I’m in the large – I’m in between medium and large at Madewell right now. The medium was too tight on my boobs but the large is a touch too big overall, but I went with this size.

Denim Smocked Boatneck Midi Dress

I have this same dress in a brown from last summer / fall! Now if you remember last year this dress ran generously, the medium fit loose like a large. They’ve since fixed sizing, so it runs TTS. I am in the large for boobies and it’s a perfect fit! True to size with a stretchy top!

This is a denim, by the way, as it’s hard to tell here. Gorgeous, too, it’s a dark chambray and the bottom half is more structured so it has really beautiful movement to it. Twirlability: 8.5 / 10.

The Ultimate Wide-Leg Pant in Airy Denim

I was on the fence on these pants but I liked the fit / lenght on them. I’m in the 30, slightly more fitted at the top / waist. They are a true wide leg but not exaggerated. Very comfortable fit, and the drawstring waist adds to the casualness. You can remove the drawstring belt, it’s not built in. I would suggest a size up if you have a rounder waistline.

Straight-Hem Shirt in Linen

I LOVE this linen top. I liked it on the hanger but didn’t expect much out of it and it’s gorgeous on. It’s a slightly more cropped length, but I’m in the large and this is a touch oversized on me. I don’t think it’s supposed to fit oversized, but I liked this length and the looseness. I would recommend this as a relaxed true to size fit. Non-sheer too for a white linen top!

Pull-On Track Pants in Airy Denim

I loved these jeans – they were unexpected which is why I think I’m drawn to them1 They fit differently than the white jeans shown before. These are a true drawstring waist, not just a belt. They run big and the lenght is really nice. This is the large and they’re a touch big for me BUT the medium was too tight across my hips for my liking. The sizing descrepency between the M and L was a lot in my opinion, but I’ll always choose looser over tighter. I liked the longer lenght on the L as well. TTS, but most fitted at the hips.

They are a true denim with a hint of stretch, but a nice mid-weight. Definitely a jean, not a chambray pant.

The Blaire Top

I love this floral top and it is going fast in this floral! I also saw it and tried on (but didn’t take photos :/)  in the light yellow and navy in store and loved those options as well. You can’t go wrong with this shape. It does run TTS, this is the large and it fits more relaxed at the chest so I prefer this size. I will say the fabric is lightweight, so the yellow was a touch more sheer, so keep that in mind.

Smocked-Waist Poplin Midi Skirt

I don’t wanna beat you over the head with this skirt BUT  I do recommend picking up this skirt while it’s on sale! I got this skirt last summer and it was a staple all summer long and I’ve already pulled it out for spring again. I’d recommend this one for an easy option this spring / summer, a nice alternative to shorts / jeans. I’m in the medium, runs generoulsy because of the smocked waist. Also it’s lined so it’s not sheer! Highly recommend and with the sale it comes in under $100.
