Hi friends! I’m back with some outfits from the week before actually because I simply didn’t get dressed last week. In fact, last week felt like two months time and I’m sure you felt that way, too. Here in Dallas, we had a major snow event last weekend which snowed us in for the whole week. Well, one day shy of a week but who’s counting right? Luckily we had electricity and our wifi never went out so besides growing tired of my own cooking and a bit of cabin fever, we were all just fine. (And it gave me plenty of time to call my senators.) I ended up sick for a few days, but honestly at that point I didn’t even care. Outfit wise of course I had given up on day 2 and so there was no documentation of my hodgepodge sweat pant / sweatshirt concoctions with wildly unkempt hair. You are welcome for that.
With everything going on in the US right now, I’ve not wanted to post my typical content or outfits. On the spectrum of priorities, I understand that fashion probably falls to the very bottom for a lot of people right now, as it should. I’m struggling to find importance in what I do right now with everything going on. It feels strange to go online and just post an outfit like the world isn’t burning. I never want to serve as distraction for the injustices happening right now with ICE, with the Epstein files, with the current administration, with black journalists being arrested. And the list goes on, doesn’t it? I’ve not even opened my news app yet today. As a white fashion influencer, posting outfits like nothing is happening feels like an intended distraction. I never want to serve as a distraction to what is a very pivotal time for our country and I never want to lighten or normalize any of this violence or hatred. I don’t know if your social media feeds are anything like mine but for me it’s a mix of the ever-changing, always depressing news, talking heads covering current events and then surprise! an outfit reels followed by a cute cat video. It’s hard for my brain to categorize any of it. In all honesty, it’s hard for me to process much these days. Every day seems darker than the last. And when I go to open instagram, I’m bombarded with the reality of the world and it quickly quiets my need to post an outfit.
On the other hand, if I don’t post, I don’t make money. Since this is my career of choice for the last 16 years, I know the limits of which I can push my paycheck but eventually I do have to get back to posting. (Or find another career path, which I’ve heavily considered in the last few years.) I also understand that if I quiet myself in all of the noise, then it is inevitable that my voice will go unheard. If I exclude myself from the feed, from posting because I never feel like I know what to say, then I still say nothing. So today I come to you with my normal content, but not from a normalized place. May my content serve as a resource, but never a distraction. I wish we could look away, but we simply can’t. I wish I had the bravery, the eloquence of others who can so quickly speak to what I’m feeling but until I can find that, I’ll show up as I am. (which truthfully is anxious and reticent, but trying to unwind those crossed wires as best I can in therapy.) Thank you for showing up here, too.
Outfits from the last few weeks below.

Work from home / therapy appt
These trousers are basically sweatpants. But with a zipper, button fly and pockets. They don’t look like sweatpants on or even in person, but boy are they comfortable. If I traveled a lot, these would be my go-to pant to be honest. I wear these when I don’t want to actually get dressed, it’s a cheat code. Plus this sweater is big and soft and cozy, so I look put together but I’m cozy AF here.

WFH | Coffee with friend
This sweater was from my Nuuly last month, which I owe you a post / review for January this week! I realized I hadn’t worn it yet so this outfit was an easy decision. These jeans are so stretchy and comfortable, which is the name of the game right now.

Anniversary Trip / Wine Tasting
I wore this half a day when we were in Fredericksburg. I ended up switching to jeans for the later half of the day, as the skirt just ended up being hard to feel comfortable in. Also this was my most randomly packed trip ever. I’m usually on top of my outfits when it comes to packing but I last minute threw everything in a bag and thought it’ll work itself out. And technically it did, but I do hate when I get somewhere and the vibe isn’t the vibe I packed for. It was colder this day and I would have much rather a pair of jeans or trousers.

Wine Tasting
You’ve seen this outfit before I know, but it’s a good one. I was so glad I threw this tee in and jacket last minute because this outfit ended up being a favorite! I love this jacket right now, it’s so soft and comfortable. Plus I think I’m gonna keep this nuuly top, too. It’s too good and I’ve worn it so many times so far.

Wine Tasting
We had about 30 degrees difference in 3 days during this quick getaway and so my packing really was all over the place. This day it was warmer so this jacket was perfect with a simple tee. I loved this outfit, I felt comfortable and chic.

Travel Day
We left on the rainiest and coldest day. I know this outfit seems really chic for a travel outfit, but it’s actually the most comfortable. I chose these super comfortable, soft drawstring jeans to travel in and the softest sweater ever from Quince. It’s the coat that makes everything looks chic, I swear. This is my favorite coat I’ve owned from Quince!

Snow Day / Work From Home
This was before I realized it was going to be all week. I started the snow week showered and cute and ended in full despair. This set from Gap came in real handy during last week! It was on repeat. Meaning I wore it all day and then the next day and the next. Don’t worry, it’s in the wash now.
