You guys I had a near-perfect rental this month. I only had one item I didn’t wear at all and honestly, I think once we review this month’s rental we will all agree on my miss. Have I finally reached peak Nuuly? I don’t want to get ahead of myself but 5 out of 6 items that I loved is feeling really successful for me.

Now to go in a completely different direction: I am back on the fence with Nuuly. I know you guys like these reviews (I do too!) but I’m trying to decide if my October needs a Nuuly. I don’t know if we are going anywhere I’d need it extra items, so we will see if anything on the site piques my interest. I have 2 days to pause my month so I’ll give it a look today. (I do like that about Nuuly, that you can pause or cancel at any time without any penalties.)

Sorry, I realize these are inside thoughts I’m typing out loud right now, so let’s get to this month’s box!

If you are new here, I wanted to try out a clothing rental service and I chose Nuuly. Nuuly charges $98 once a month and you get to choose 6 items to wear all month long then you send the pieces back. You can check out the Nuuly website here.

Each month I calculate the cost per wear for each pieces in my nuuly box. Here are the numbers: each box is $98 for 6 pieces. (For consistency, I’m leaving out taxes here since it will differ for each state.) So if you take the $98 divided by the 6 items, it’s about $16.33 per item, if you wear each item one time. Every item’s cost of $16.33 will be divided by the frequency of wear. (i.e. Cost of item rental ÷ times piece was worn = rental price per wear). Just to go a step too far, I’ve also broken down each piece with a rating system and a review for each item below.

MY RATING SYSTEM:

⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑ = would consider buying full price / will miss it when it’s gone!
⭑⭑⭑⭑ = really liked it, would prefer to buy on sale
⭑⭑⭑ = on the fence, liked it but can’t see myself wearing that often / buy on sale only
⭑⭑ = liked but didn’t wear it at all or found it hard to style
⭑ = didn’t like it / didn’t fit

Alex Mill Cardigan | ⭑⭑⭑⭑
TIMES WORN OVER THE MONTH: 4
CONDITION: NEW WITH TAGS
COST PER WEAR: $4.08

I really liked this cardigan and I’ve come to realize that I really like renting Alex Mill pieces. Alex Mill has really nice knitwear that I don’t know if I’d buy otherwise, so it’s fun to rent and give nicer pieces a try. This cardigan is a really nice, thick cotton and it holds its shape really well. It relaxed as I wore it over the month, but overall it kept its shape and it still looks brand new. I am on the fence of buying it, as they’re offering like 75% off (!!) I think the color is gorgeous but I don’t know if I”ll necessarily need this piece? I can’t decide yet. Overall it’s a nice weight and looks luxe. 10/10 recommend from Alex Mill.

I am always a large in Alex Mill, as I find they run small. You can shop it here.

COST PER WEAR: $1.66

These jeans were the real MVP of the Nuuly this month. I LOVE them. Of course, I do — they’re Citizens of Humanity jeans. I’ve never met a CoH jean I didn’t immediately love. I don’t think this is the case for all designer denim, but for them I get why they’re so damn expensive — they fit perfectly, the rinse is perfect, the denim is high quality. It’s annoying how perfect they are, honestly. I am on the fence on keeping them this month. (Nuuly discounts items if you keep them and from best I can tell it depends on how many times it’s been rented. The newer the item, the less discount they offer to keep. These are currently 30% off so it’s tempting…)

I opted for the 30s, as I’m typically a 30 in CoH jeans and I LOVED the fit. They run true to size with a relaxed fit.

Alex Mill runs small and I know it. I ordered the large in this vest and it does fit, but I would prefer this look to be looser and more relaxed. The quality was there, Alex Mill always produces gorgeous pieces, but the fit was not. If you don’t have boobs, then this would probably fit you better, but between my long torso and boobs, it was just too short, too fitted for me to feel comfortable wearing it long term. Find this sweater vest here.

Clare V. ‘Ciao’ Tee | ⭑⭑⭑⭑
TIMES WORN OVER THE MONTH: 5
CONDITION: Excellent Used
COST PER WEAR: $5.27

Oh this tee! I’m going to miss her to be honest. I am also on the fence of keeping this one, too. It’s such a cute tee and I got lots of wear out of it. I am in between on the sizing — this is the large but it’s a touch too large. I’d say stick with your typical size and expect a looser, relaxed and boxy tee. Super cute and quirky, as always with anything Clare V.

This tee is on sale during Shopbop’s sale, but I think it ends today. You can shop it from Shopbop here or Clare V. here.

I will be very sad returning this sweatshirt tunic. Look I fight it, I do, but I just love a loose FP tunic. I love a big sweatshirt, it’s just who I am. I don’t’ even find them that cute, they’re just so comfortable. When I say I’ve been wearing this sweatshirt nonstop, it’s true. It’s been my toss on and go piece this month, especially for drop offs in the morning. This exact outfit is what I wear many times for school drop offs. (I just realized I’m wearing this right now.)

Also — I don’t know why it looks two different tones up there in the photo, this sweatshirt is all one color, not two different blues.

Yes, we reached the odd man out of the nuuly box with this midi skirt. I will stand by the reason I rented it: it’s very pretty. But I just had no reason to wear it this month. It gives more ‘holiday’ vibes than random Tuesday on a September. It’s a BIG skirt, like there is a lot of fabric and it’s lined, so it feels like something I should wear out or to an office or an event. SOMETHING. ANYTHING. But I didn’t have something or anything this month, so it sat hanging in my closet. I do recommend this piece, but it just wasn’t really my style or anything I was going to reach for this month. (PS: I really like how they styled it on Anthro’s site!)

I rented the medium and it fit well, but it is harder to get over hips if you got them. Once on, it fits perfectly.

I realized that on my last Nuuly post I said that I was really going to try this month to get 6 piece I really would wear. And you guys, I did it. Well 5 out gf 6 — but does 6 perfect pieces exist? I guess I’ll keep trying. If you want to give Nuuly a try, here is my referral code. You get $30 off your first month and I get $10 off mine. If you have given it a try, let me know what you think!
