Well I’m back with a Nuuly rental. I gave it a break over summer and I feel good about that 2 month pause. Summer is a weird time to rent clothes if you aren’t really needing them for vacation. I tend to wear the same things over and over in summer so I support this choice I made. I was excited to get a box again in August but I think — in the future — I would take a break from June through August and start back up in September. August is such a fast month with school starting and everything else, that I just didn’t really need it. So anyways, those are my thoughts on the rental situation. But I’m glad to be back with it this month! Let’s see what I got and rate.
***
If you are new here, I wanted to try out a clothing rental service and I chose Nuuly. Nuuly charges $98 once a month and you get to choose 6 items to wear all month long then you send the pieces back. You can check out the Nuuly website here.
Each month I calculate the cost per wear for each pieces in my nuuly box. Here are the numbers: each box is $98 for 6 pieces. (For consistency, I’m leaving out taxes here since it will differ for each state.) So if you take the $98 divided by the 6 items, it’s about $16.33 per item, if you wear each item one time. Every item’s cost of $16.33 will be divided by the frequency of wear. (i.e. Cost of item rental ÷ times piece was worn = rental price per wear). Just to go a step too far, I’ve also broken down each piece with a rating system and a review for each item below.
MY RATING SYSTEM:
⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑ = would consider buying full price / will miss it when it’s gone!
⭑⭑⭑⭑ = really liked it, would prefer to buy on sale
⭑⭑⭑ = on the fence, liked it but can’t see myself wearing that often / buy on sale only
⭑⭑ = liked but didn’t wear it at all or found it hard to style
⭑ = didn’t like it / didn’t fit
Maeve ‘Rive Siene’ Sweater Vest | ⭑⭑⭑⭑
TIMES WORN OVER THE MONTH: 3
CONDITION: NEW WITH TAGS
Cost Per Wear: $5.44
I really liked this sweater and just almost thought about keeping it. That is until I crowdfunded an opinion on Instagram and about 90% of everyone said send it back. Lol can’t argue with that. Back it went yesterday. But I loved it while I had it, wore it more times than August should have allowed. I didn’t get to wear this outfit above but had it been a touch cooler, it would have been worn. I just paired it with some pants below and my denim skort, mostly. Overall I loved the sweater but didn’t keep it. Runs generously, but I liked the medium for me! Find the sweater here.
Madewell Ribbed Polo | ⭑
TIMES WORN OVER THE MONTH: 0
CONDITION: VERY USED CONDITION
Cost Per Wear: $16.33
Meh to this one and honestly? I should have known better. I am not a tight shirt gal and this is a tight shirt. What can I say? I sometimes black out when I’m ordering things online and this is a product of that black out. I simply never reached for it because it’s just not my style. And this alone is why the rental thing is helpful; even still I am learning what I like and don’t like about my own personal style. The top is whatever to me, if you need a stretchy polo this is an option. (I’m in the large.)
Anthropologie The Delany Contrast Stitch Pants | ⭑⭑⭑⭑
TIMES WORN OVER THE MONTH: 4
CONDITION: NEW WITH TAGS
Cost Per Wear: $4.08
Oh I liked these pants a lot! I wore them multiple times but was more than fine to send them back. They reminded me slightly of JNCOs from yesteryear. The big wide leg, the contrasted stitching, all of it felt vaguely nostalgic of the 2ks. So I liked them, I liked wearing them and reached for them quite a lot but in the end I was glad to give them back. They’ve got a bit too much novelty for me to keep full time. Find them here.
PS: they run small in the waist. I got the 30, perfect fit.
Anthropologie Colette Knit Pants | ⭑⭑⭑⭑
TIMES WORN OVER THE MONTH: 2
CONDITION: NEW WITH TAGS
Cost Per Wear: $8.17
Would it even BE a Nuuly rental post without a pair of Colette pants?! I don’t think so, not around here! I really don’t mean to rent these pants so much but I do like them. I like the fit and the novelty of them all. This one is a sweater knit fabric, very stretchy and quite thick. They fit well (I sized up, they’re a touch snug at the waist) and I liked how they were fall adjacent but could wear them in August. Overall loved them, but as I do with all of the Colette pants — I sent them back. I love renting Anthro pieces through Nuuly I’ve decided; I love a little novelty moment and then I love to return them at the end of that moment.
Dolan Left Coast Peplum Top | ⭑⭑⭑
TIMES WORN OVER THE MONTH: 0
CONDITION: NEW WITH TAGS
Cost Per Wear: $16.33
Hi, it’s me. I’m the problem, it’s me. Now what was I saying above about novelty items… ah yes. I love a quirky moment and the ability to return it. But I think I went a but *too* novelty on this one. This is a red peplum top and truthfully what was I thinking? I had no where, no why, no reason to wear this little top last month. I think I just panicked and picked this last minute. It’s a great top TBH. the quality is nice, it’s a stretchy thicker fabric and the shape stays. The color is vibrant and overall it’s a well constructed top. I just…it’s just..it’s not me. Lesson learned.
PS: I got the large and it was just a touch too big under the arms / bust. Find it here.
Madewell Wide Leg Pants | ⭑⭑⭑⭑⭑
TIMES WORN OVER THE MONTH: 5
CONDITION: NEW WITH TAGS
Cost Per Wear: $3.26
I LOVED these pants and was also sad to see them go. I just *almost* kept them but I put them in last minute. I’m kind of kicking myself now because I really really loved them. They are Madewell and they’re the super wide leg pant. My only reasoning of not keeping them was the light color going into fall. But if they were on sale right now, I’d snatch them up. I loved the fit, the stitching, the versatility of them. Loved it all. I pretty much wore them with this top or another solid tank. Here I wore them with that linen Zara top:
You get the vibe. I’ll miss them but they’re off to someone else next month. I wish them well.
I got the 30 after reading reviews and glad I sized up! This fit (super wide leg) runs snug at the waist / hips. Find them here.

I think I am going to continue the Nuuly rentals for now. But this next month I’m going to really try for 6 items I’ll love instead of just 6 items I liked and thought why not? If you want to give Nuuly a try, here is my referral code. You get $30 off your first month and I get $10 off mine. If you have given it a try, let me know what you think!
