I have no idea why but I always just feel cooler in the summer. (Vibes not temp, obviously. I’m sweating like a liar over here in the heat.) Perhaps my style relaxes a bit more in the summer or maybe I am relaxed, too? As I’m writing this I’m thinking “is it me? and not the clothes?” Maybe I’m the uptight one and I’ve been blaming my clothes all along? No, that can’t be right….
I also think it could be these aviator sunglasses. I just *feel* cool. All the cool girls are wearing them therefore by de facto I am cool. The math is simple on these. They kind of belong in that pretty / ugly camp of thinking– where your outfit is pretty but something is off or ugly. Could be your shoes or your bag, just something is off. This time it’s the sunglasses that look like I picked them up for a gas station in 2004. Because I DID, not with these but another very closely related pair. I distinctly remember having a pair of sunglasses like this that I specifically wore to float the river in college. And I’d show you a photo to prove it but that time period in photographs doesn’t exist. THANK GOD for so, so, so many reasons. It’s my theory as to why Gen Z is trying so many of the trends we killed — it’s because they have no idea what it actually looked like so they have to try it themselves. I saw boat shoes at Madewell the other day and a single tear fell to the ground.
Wow so much chitter chatter today, you’d think I’d started a substack. Let’s talk this outfit — it is courtesy of Evereve from the new Z Supply collection. I love a coordinating set and honestly I don’t know if I would have put these two together had they not sent them. I think I would have gone very simple tank and skirt, but seeing how well these two work together I love it. You can find both pieces here under $100.
