I think I’ve said this before but casual outfits are my go-to in everyday life but they are harder for me to showcase on the blog. You and the voice of reason in my head are saying the same thing: but why?! People want to see casual! Put down the tulle skirt and give the people what they want! I *think* it’s because of when I started blogging everything needed to be big, bold and fancy. It became habit for me to want to ‘out-do’ my last post. (This has in fact led to some questionable choices.) Over the years fashion in general has taken it down a notch with atheleisure looks rising and denim reigning king. Call it muscle memory or something else, but if there is a year to unlearn this it’s this year. Call 2020 whatever you want but if anything it is the year for comfort and casual. And while I dove legs first into my leggings during spring quarantine, I’ve gained a new respect for my denim. Especially comfortable denim.  This pair from Madewell is the perfect vintage look, but it has some nice stretch to it that isn’t typical for vintage denim. It’s like future vintage, the perfect juxtaposition of modern technology and a retro fit.

Being a creature of comfort, I can’t help but love an oversized sweater. (Even though I’m trying to NOT buy only oversized pieces this fall. Solely because I have a lot of the slouchy look and silhouette in my closet already and I’m trying to not highlight my body / not hide it.) But there’s always one exception to the rule and that is this sweater. It’s SO soft, so cozy and perfectly oversized. (You could easily wear it with leggings, too!) I am in the medium and it’s the right ‘boyfriend’ fit, too.

Do you ever have a look that you admire on someone else but you’re just not sure if you can pull it off? I’ve long loved the look of crisp white Air Force 1’s but I’ve never taken the plunge. Do I think that I’m not cool enough to pull them off? Absolutely. But you know what? I was wrong. They are SUPER easy to pull off and they work with denim too. Very comfortable, too — I thought they’d be the wrong kind of chunky, like a heavy shoe but they are so easy to walk around in. You can find this pair here! I stayed true to size and like this fit.
