I snagged this button down mini skirt on sale a few weeks back when Madewell was having a weekend promotion. I was absolutely giddy when it came in because I have been dying for this style of skirt lately. I love the button down miniskirt trend, it’s just adorable and such a darling update to a regular denim or miniskirt. Don’t get me wrong, I love wearing denim and most days I do, but it’s nice to mix it up while I still can. Winter is just around the corner and I’ll be in jeans or leggings for a few months, so might as well mini-skirt it up while it’s still warm-ish.

(It is currently freezing rain here so looking at my bare legs in these photos is giving me the chills. It’s amazing how quickly my brain changes to winter once it gets cold here, even though in like 2 days it will be 80 degrees again. Texas weather is not for the faint of heart.)

I didn’t know if I would like this color but I actually love it. It’s an orange-ish tan shade, almost a pumpkin hue and it brings out a nice, autumn vibe. Honestly, I can think of a ton of things to pair with this skirt right now — a chambray shirt, a simple tee, anything burgundy, navy or olive would be perfect with this shade of skirt. I’m so glad I took the plunge on this pumpkin spice skirt. (PS: if you love the style, but you’re unsure of the color it’s also in evergreen here!)

I had this thermal pullover in mind when I ordered this skirt and it was the perfect pairing. To me, this is the perfect fall outfit with the different textures and the different shades of autumn. I love a thermal look too in fall. This top is more of a boyfriend fit than a true thermal top (you can see it untucked here), but it worked just as well with a skirt as it did with jeans.

Fit Details

I am in the 8 of the skirt, it fits true to size! It’s got stretch in it as well so it’s super comfortable. I’m in the medium of the thermal pullover — it fits like Free People, so size down if you want it shorter / tighter fitting. I’m usually a medium in tops, so for me this fits TTS. Shoes fit TTS!

  1. That style (front button) of skirt was so popular when I was on middle school, and now I’m seeing it everywhere. Can’t do it. I’d feel like a pre teen who’s trying too hard all over again.😂
