I feel like every once in a while fashion throws us a trend that’s a thank you for putting up with the other trends we’ve tried. Street style is this trend — sneakers, baseball caps, and now the jogger. Not familiar with the jogger pant? Well, let me introduce you to your new best trend. The jogger is basically an acceptable way to wear comfortable pants all the time. You can wear them to the office, for a night out, or to run errands… and they work all three ways. In fact, I’ve built a strong case for the Jogger; see Exhibit A, B and C below.
          DESK TIME

Mixing in joggers for work is actually a lot easier than I first thought. It took me a while to figure out just what to wear with this style, but I realized that a simple blazer and white tee could make this look work perfectly. (These are two essential items you should already have and if not, what are you waiting for girlfriend?) The style of the pants also makes it great for heels. I’m literally wearing sweat pants with heels and it works. No, no thank YOU, Joggers.
         DATE NIGHT

Happy hour or date night, you can again make Joggers fit into anything that you are going to do. Add in a cute blouse, black heels and you’re going out to dinner with friends in the comfiest outfit ever. Literally all of your friends will be jealous.

        DOWN TIME

I feel like this look is how joggers were meant to be worn. (Sure, you can always go natural and just wear them to the gym but why be boring?) Add in a few essential pieces like a sweater and jean jacket (or even add in a basic tee instead) and you’ve got a sweet street look that works perfectly for the weekend.
New to street style? Here are a few of my favorite street style basics to get you started:

  1. Gotta love the jogger, I feel cute even when walking my dog! I think your “jogger” link is accidentally going to the bomber jacket…

      1. Of course! I just found your blog and am really responding to the relate-ability. Keep up the good work!

  2. I think the work look is my favorite! I’m shocked that I could like these pants for anything other than lounging, but you make it work.

  3. Love this! I’ve got maybe too many different pairs of joggers…and they are SO comfy. I’m all about pulling off pajamas at the work place! 😉

  4. Love those leopard heels, but not sure how I’d feel about seeing someone wear their joggers to work. Even the business casual dress code here would be a stretch.

  5. Those pants are definitely growing on me. All great looks. You can’t even tell they’re sweatpants.

  6. Love! How’s the fit on the Joggers? Did you size up, down, or stick with your normal size?

  7. Great post! I’ve never really known how to style these pants. Will definitely have to try!

  8. those joggers are seriously awesome! adore the heel pairing with them! couldn’t get away with them at my work place as we’re stuck with skirts and slacks but i’d love to wear them in every-day life

  9. Stop looking so cool, I can’t handle it.

P.S. The testy ‘tude might be from the fact that I gave myself 3 minutes to get dressed this morning.

  10. This is a trend I’ve been wanting to try but have been unsure about how to style. Thank you for making it seem doable! I’ll be buying a pair of joggers ASAP.

  11. I’ve been on the fence about getting a pair of joggers for myself, and now I am definitely on the YES side! You have created three very different and very realistic outfits– I would wear all of these. You are fabulous!

  12. Three really great looks! They look so comfortable but still totally legit for non-couch use. I’ve been on the fence for ages about this pant style, opted for a more dressy version but I may need to supplement 😉 Thanks! xo

  13. Can’t believe I’m the only one saying “No!” to this! Just not for me, it looks sloppy. You did a great job making the best of them though!!

  14. They look pretty casual with sneakers. I think heels are the way to go if you intend to be fancy with them.

  15. You wouldn’t believe, but I just purchased some black jogger pants this past weekend and was asking my sister about tips on how to style it! This is such a coincidence! i’m definitely bookmarking this post for future reference! i’m loving all your looks! love how you can always takes something simple like jogger pants and do so much w/ it!

  16. I haven’t really been drawn to the jogger but I love the way you styled them! I think the first look is my fave. The blazer, the white T, the heels….love it all.

  26. Love this post! I was literally looking at joggers in a mag yesterday and thinking how the heck do you wear those? This post came at the perfect time! I love that they look so cute with heels and maybe I’m brave enough now to give them a try!

  33. Have you noticed them shedding at all? I was reading the reviews on athleta (granted there are only a few) but it seemed like everyone mentioned them shedding everywhere.

    1. I haven’t but I haven’t washed them yet so maybe that’s why they are holding strong. They are so soft that I expect them too, since that’s usually how this material ends up doing.

    2. They do shed (I own them), but less after washing/with time. These pants are so soft that once you wear them you’re willing to overlook some extra lint?

  40. I found a pair at tj Maxx! I’m excited – I want to pair them with a pair of pink heels.

  41. Haha, I was so confused for a minute because here in Australia, “joggers” is the word we use for trainers / sturdy running shoes. It took a minute for me to realise you were talking about the pants, not your shoes. (I would have LOVED to see outfits using “trainers” for the office and a date night! 😛 )

  44. Well you’ve convinced me to buy a pair of joggers. I’m excited to see if I can actually pull them off. Fingers crossed!

  46. Sorry, but I sure hope this trend passes. It’s just not a good look for anyone really. Most bottom halves need structure.

  47. You are rocking the joggers, lady! However, I would probably be kicked out of the office and told to return in something more appropriate if I showed up in these. The last look is so much more doable and relatable. You look so relaxed yet chic and put together, mixing the denim jacket, joggers, and aviators.

  49. i think you look great! but first off, so this is what we’re calling SWEATPANTS now? I love the ease of this look but let’s just call these pants what they are. they’re sweatpants. FITTED sweatpants, but sweatpants nonetheless. second, i really don’t think most professional work places would be okay with this look, even with heels on a blazer thrown on.

    1. Bahaha yes — Sweatpants / joggers are one and the same if you get down to it. I like that ‘joggers’ technically have more of a shape to them and usually taper at the legs, but the material is definitely that of sweatpants. I will gladly wear both!

  51. You make everything look so effortless and chic. I love all of these looks~but especially the jean jacket. Nice touch against the black 🙂

  56. Brides usually wear it while sporting turmeric or henna as gold jewelry might get spoiled when it comes in contact with them and they do save it – atleast the beads and bases as a memento

  57. This post is so confusing to me because athleta has a pant called the city jogger and this is not them. For girls who want a more structured look and don’t want to wear glorified sweatpants as anything other than sweats, look into the city pant collection (jogger, aspire, la viva). They are actually pants, but in a great lightweight material and now a lined pant as well as made in a stylish wool. These pants (the coaster pant) are amazing, but to me they are merely lounge pants.

  58. They do shed (I own them), but less after washing/with time. These pants are so soft that once you wear them you're willing to overlook some extra lint?

  60. I love joggers! I like how they are versatile and I can wear them with sneakers for a casual day or wear them with a tunic or blazer with heels for an evening look.
