I think I’ve said this before (but I’m too lazy to go back and reference myself so I’ll just repeat it) but I go through phases with clothing. Some years I only like pants or I only like skirts. Other years I’m not interested in dresses at all and then the next I can’t get enough. I am indecisive at best, flaky at worst. But there has just been something about dresses for me this spring. I suppose I’ve been into feeling like a lady lately. Well as much as I can feel like a lady in a dress that’s short. Downside to being tall, everything is short. Upside: standing room concerts aren’t a problem and reaching things on high shelves is a plus.

Side note: it probably means I need a tan when my nude shoes are the exact same color as my skin, right? I mean sure they are supposed to be nude but flesh colored? That might be a little too close to my skin tone.

  1. The color of this dress screams spring! I love it paired with that belt. I can't wait for warmer weather so I can stop wearing boots and coats with everything! This morning was 22 degrees when I left for work. 🙁

  2. I love this dress.  I think the only advantage to being 5'4 is that more of the shorter dresses are actually wearable.  Great tip I read on Corporette – if you're not sure if something is appropriate or not, put a chair in front of your full-length mirror and have a seat.  Sounded like a great litmus test to me!

  3. These colors are beautiful together. I've been into dresses lately too. That section of my closet is getting overstuffed! I'm pretty sure I'll walk in one morning and find all the dresses and skirts exploded all over the floor.

  4. You look adorable! And your legs look a bazillion miles long…embrace the skin tone matching the shoes!!

  5. I simply adore this dress on you! Love the tulip cut and the color is so pretty. Love it with the cardi, the two colors together are so springy and beautiful! And hey, we've all got pale legs right now… one of the downsides of winter, right!? 🙂

  6. Great dress, rather than a tan you should give Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs a try, it works WONDERS in making legs look great. Go buy some and you will be a changed woman.

  7. Love that dress, lady. That's a great color on you. I'm the same way, lately all I want to wear is pants. Fighting my instincts to ensure my massive skirt/dress collection gets some play.

  8. I love this dress, it's gorgeous with the nude wedges. I know what you mean, I always go through clothing phases. I always love dresses though especially when the weather warms up. It's so easy to just throw one on and go. Plus they look cute and are comfortable and cool.

  9. You look lovely, it looks so warm there! We had a rare day of sunshine today so I was able to choose flesh coloured tights and a floral dress rather than black tights and boots. We're all ladies together 🙂

  10. Cute cute! I love dresses too— I make them at 50dresses.com! Let me know which you like- I'd love to send you something.

  11. Love the color of the dress with the lighter cardigan! At least your skin matches the shoes! My skin is so pale I'm usually a couple shades lighter than my nude shoes!

  12. Love the peach! One of my fave spring colors. I just bought that same cardigan.

  13. Have you ever ordered talls from Gap? Short becomes still short but not I'm-afraid-to-reach-the-top-shelf short… 🙂

  14. The color, design and the fact that it has pockets make this dress perfect.

  15. Love this dress. The colour is amazing on you. I know how you feel about a tan. I can't wait for the sun to come out.

  16. You look really pretty in that dress! Also, I like the leafy background. It's a nice change.

  17. You are adorable! I love your comments…and your outfits. BTW love the very Audrey-Hepburn-ish new  photo on your homepage <3

  18. I'm the same way.  Two years ago I was all about cardigans, now I'm all about pullovers.

  19. My skin tone is perpetually the same color of all things nude.. so, anything in that tone is out…  Love the coral color, simply fabulous!

  20. LOVE this peach outfit, Kendi! You look fantastic. I went through a major dresses phase during my last spring in Texas – they are so perfect for the weather there and you look great in all of them, so I can't blame you!

  21. There is nothing wrong with your skin color or the shoes.  I think you look chic.  Darling outfit!

  22. Kendi, your outfits are awesome!  Love them all.

  23. I know your frustration with dresses coming up short because you're tall. I hated the finger tip test in middle school because my arms are crazy long, and it required me to wear longer shorts and dresses compared to others. My husband is 7' tall, so we'll never be in a bad spot at concerts!

  24. Peachy Keen, or Peachy Skeen?! I know you're impressed. Also, I've had those exact thoughts about my legs and my nude heels many a times. Glad I'm not alone in paleness insecurities!

  25. You crack me up. The perfect nude skin-matching pump was on my must have list for months! I finally found a pair, but they had to match my skin perfectly or they wouldn't work. Now I'm wondering how I'm supposed to,wear them once my legs do get tan!!??

  26. beautiful combo, loving the hem of this dress (not to mention the color) and the slight pleated detail at the waist. the belt is perfect and so is the pastel pink cardi. p.s. totally feel ya on the tan, same here. plus side to being white, we wont be getting skin cancer, right? xo

  27. if we're going to go there, i'd actually say your shoes MAY be a little bit tanner than your legs. i can say this without offending you because if i DIDN'T have tights on right now i'd be blinding you with my sheer ghostness. .. from New Hampshire. and no bare legs in sight for months. SO JEALOUS.

  28. Love the colors!! so great with the gold belt too. saw that dress on the Bloom website and loved it. 🙂 ps- also SUPER pale right now.. it happens. 😉

  29. LOVE this color on you. You look amazing in this color and dress.

If you get a sec, check out my latest post 'One Shoulder Wonder'. A very pretty LBD dress that I found last weekend. I would love to hear what you think about it.

    Have a great weekend!

  30. Ah this makes me want to move to Texas and wear bright dresses! I'm so envious you can wear these types of outfits already, up here in Seattle we have to wait until about the end of June!

  31. you look great! i love the colors of your outfit 🙂

don't worry about the nude shoes — i thought they should look relatively close to your skin tone so that they give the appearance of elongating your legs even more?

oh no, unless i had it wrong all this years and people think i was walking barefoot with a weird growth sticking out of the heel of my foot. yikes.
