This week at the shop is an office week for me. Now, while I’d like for you all to think that I play shopgirl all day, every day the truth is I don’t. The other side of owning a shop filled with pretty clothes is a desk filled with white paper blackened by numbers. Dirty words like taxes, accounts payable, bills take up most of my days on weeks last this one. Typically if I’m in the shop it either means it’s Saturday or I’m ignoring all of the paperwork on my desk. So that’s why I’ve been in casual mode lately (and also why I’m wearing fake glasses. They help, I promise.) There really is no reason to wear a dress when I’m filing papers and crunching numbers. This is my excuse any way.
Also, I don’t know when I decided to be so matchy lately but I can’t stop. If you can’t tell my glasses match my tee, spot on. Almost like it was planned. (It was.) I’m pretty sure matching everything I’m wearing is the first step to becoming my mother.

  2. Love the "fake" glasses! I've been doing the same thing recently.  Although, the sad thing is I actually need to wear glasses but like my contacts better. So sometimes I wear both!

  3. Just found your blog and am loving it. It's not every day you meet another Kendi, especially one that lives in the Metroplex. I'll be back!

  4. Are those Joe's Visionairre Flare jeans?  The link goes to the Honey bootcut, but those appear to be flare…..I like them!

    thanks

  5. Great outfit Kendi! I wish I looked half this cute while doing my taxes. Ashamed to say baggy sweatpants are more my m/o when tackling tasks such as these. Thanks for the inspiration though. This outfit makes me rethink my approach to comfortable yet functional 🙂

  6. I love the look. I'm matchy and have been trying to get out of it. If you've got to do "dirty work" then at least you're super cute while you're doing it (^_^)

  7. i adore your blouse! you look super fantastic! 🙂 also sorry about the bills and taxes yucko! fake glasses certainly help you look better so i hope they help with the paperwork too.

  8. I love this casual look! Sometimes we need it! (Not to be picky or anything, but your "where" should be the other one… I'm an English teacher. Sue me.)

  9. I actually like wearing dresses when doing paper work – at least there's something to be excited about! But you look super professional and cute, so don't worry. (Love the tee, I want one too!) xx

  10. your outfits never fail to impress me. so effortlessly chic! i especially LOVE the glasses and tee shirt.
ps, my cousin emily told me you were visiting molly for her baby shower a little while ago. i told her she was in the presence of a celebrity.

  11. Truly a t-shirt, jeans and a blazer are the coolest casual look ever! It's definitely my go to and you may have also just inspired me to actually get a graphic t-shirt of some kind….

  12. Not suing you — thanks! Someone sent me an email, too. I appreciate it. That's how you know I'm tired when I confuse the word 'where' with 'wear'. Yikes.

  13. please talk more about the reality of owning a business as a woman. too many fashion bloggers make their life look like sing-songy disney but 99% of america does not live like that. its hard to find stylish women that we can relate to.

  14. sometimes matchy match is just easier.  don't worry you are still totes adorbs.  i'm way too old to be saying that.  www.thismomsgonnasnap.com

  19. Oh my, I love this tee! I'm definitely planning to check out my Target to see if they have it.

  20. If you didn't want to be matchy-matchy then how would you want to change this outfit?  I grew up in the era of matching and I'm really trying NOT to be too matchy-matchy, but I really have to try hard!!

  21. I have always wanted fake glasses, but I don't think that I could pull them off.

  22. Im fixated on the last line….don't know weather that means your planning something….but as a mom, I have to say…Matchy can be the difference between presentable and sloppy…..moms are always rushing and "styling" isn't alotted much time….so pulling it together, matching shoes to cardy or t-shirt to glasses….or at times even reflecting what your kids are wearing (ughhh) can make you feel like you've made some effort…..Love the blazer and Jeans…personally my two favortie go to!

  23. Made me laugh at the end about becoming your mother! Haha I think it happens to us all…
