[Tee: Old Navy (Similar) | Heels: Urban Outfitters | Clutch: Similar]
Something about being out of an office setting makes me suddenly feel very dressed up in a skirt. When I would go to my 9 to 5 every day, a skirt was a no-brainer. I almost felt sloppy in pants (because of the impending wrinkles that would occur while sitting all day), so typically all I would wear was a skirt or a dress. But these days I feel like I should be going to the Oscars whenever I put a skirt or dress on (hence the amount of pants I wear). And yes, this is what I would wear if I was attending the Oscars. Fancy, no? Who am I wearing? Old Navy.
I used to wear wrap skirts when I was a little girl and they would fascinate me. Mainly because the ones I wore had spandex shorts built into them. This meant no activity was out of question — if I wanted to play kickball or go down a hot metal slide, then the sky was the limit. Maybe that’s my issue with skirts now — if only they had biker shorts built in, then I’d start wearing more of them.
your skirt is gorgeous!
love love love the blue + orange combination!
If anyone could bring the skort back, it would be you.
Love! It’s great when you can mix price points and look fashionable!
I know it! I know exactly what you mean. Unless its a summery little sundress or something, I feel way dressed UP in skirts.
I don’t know how to fix this.
You are precious. Love that skirt!
I love this hem of this skirt! Kartwheels were no question in the skirts of our youth!
I feel the same way! When I was teaching, I was comfortable wearing skirts to work.I’m not anymore and now I always feel so overdressed when I wear skirts or dresses. But I am determined to start wearing them more anyway. I love your striped shirt with this outfit.
Love that skirt!!
This skirt is adorable! 🙂
OMG I had a NEON day glo three tiered skirt (orange, lime yellow, and pink) that had an elastic waistband and shorts underneath when i was about 8 or 9 that I was SO proud of. I feel the same about skirts, but you look perfectly casual and also ladylike at the same time! I love the color of the skirt… Gorgeous! Also, question- do you miss your long hair? Mine is long but I am dying to chop it to about the length you have it. I am worried I will regret…
Yay skorts! Love it. Brings me back ; ) Love your skirt too!
Confession: I wear booty shorts underneath my skirts and dresses about 90% of the time. Even long ones. It just helps me feel more clothed or something. I’m 26.
I absolutely love your outfit, I’m a huge fan of the nautical style and you’ve teamed your colours up really well. I actually love this colour combination; I have an orange coat and a cobalt blue scarf that go GREAT together.
I love the cobalt and orange combination! I remember those skorts when I was little and I wish they would bring them back for adults because they were awesome! You could do whatever you needed in them without having to worry about flashing anyone. Those were the days!
The Tiny Heart
I’ve never been a big “skirt-wearer,” but it’s definitely a piece I want to try to work into my wardrobe more. I love how feminine they look and sometimes I’m just not feelin’ a dress, ya know? Haha.
PS. Love this combination. So cute.
this is super cute! love those orange pump!

Oooh! Love that sweater. (Funny thing — Jill GG featured blue/orange on her blog today!)
love stripes, cant get enough!
Totally agree! I wear my jeans a lot in the winter as the school run is cold and they can be dressed up with anything but if I wear a skirt I feel like I should be doing more with my day 😛 But I do love skirts.
I’m wearing bike shorts under my dress right now. I almost always do… Slides and kickball games, here I come!!
are you smizing at me? great skirt…beautiful color.
Hahaha…that was the only way I would wear skirts as a kid! I HATED skirts! Now I’m like ‘office you’ … I kinda hate wearing pants to work! Good look. Love the pop or orange.
I cheat and wear leggings or biker shorts under my skirts and dresses all the time. I’m tall and pretty active, so I have to be ‘safe’ when I’m on the floor pinning a hem or fitting an actor into something.
I’m all for the biker shorts as adults. Viva la wrap skirt!
i love how you tie your outfits together with unexpected colors and patterns. it’s so whimsical! :))
I think I have mentioned this before, but I want your hair…my iPad is going with me to my next appointment so I can pull up your blog!
such a pretty skirt!
your hair always looks so cute! Could you do a tutorial on how to do it??
Ahh, skorts… love them! You look so pretty, I love the blue and orange!
I’m in love with stripes and polka dots at the moment. And you do they so well!

very cute! love the orange accents!
ahh skirts.. this one is really beautiful … love the shirt and shoes with it as well!!
You look amazing in blues!
My biggest thing is mixing the expensive with the not so expensive.
LOVING THIS OUTFIT
i’m rather new to your blog, but i’ve noticed that you wear these uo shoes quite a bit. are they comfortable? i’m looking for a good pair of heels to wear with everything…skirts, pants, etc. just wondering what you thought of them.
I love the colors and the skirt. I was a wrap skirt girl too. They let me be girly and play hard all at the same time (^_^)
What an adorable outfit! I love everything about it!
LOVE tulip skirts, and that cobalt one is just lovely, Kendi! I totally remember skirts with biker shorts built in…I think it’s time to bring it BACK. Can you stock some at Bloom? 😉
I love this look – that wrap skirt is beautiful & the orange belt provides the perfect pop of contrasting color…so cute! 🙂
Very cute combination! Love the electric blue with the orange touches…always a favorite! I find tulip-like skirts a bit tricky when I sit down…hard to keep them wrapped in place! Did you have a similar issue?
Anyway, great look!
Haha! Love reading your posts! Great outfit…I love the skirt, and actually own the shirt (in duplicates haha). You can never have too many nautical shirts…plus I got them on sale for $5!!
a wonderful outfit, the skirt looks gorgeous on you! and I love your striped tee, I also recently bought two striped shirts.
Why did you change your url now that google is going to delete gfc for non blogspot sites? Or was it on purpose? Or is it just a rumor?
Built in biker shorts make everything better, no? Yet another truth of life delivered to me via the Internet. I thank you. 😉
So funny, I’m wearing this shirt today too and as I was getting dressed this morning I wondered if you still hate it. Great minds, I suppose 🙂
Oops, I meant “still have it.” Haha, that changes the context of the sentence quite a bit!
Love this outfit Kendi…the blue is so refreshing paired with stripes and colour!xx
Such a cute ensemble. Love the tribal friendship bracelet!
i love your shirt!!!
I love this outfit, the skirt is just perfect!!
I need that skirt- is it available in the online store? 🙂
Nope- it’s not there. If I can special order, can you please email me?
granola2glam at gmail dot com
This was from last fall so it’s not available anymore! If I see one like it, I’ll let you know!
Ok thanks, doll! Or any cobalt skirt….
I have you featured on my covet list…not cuz I covet you, but a cobalt skirt 🙂
Amazing set, i love the orange details!
I really love the skirt, great outfit!
So true!….it’s hard being a lady who wants to go out and kick a ball around when you have to worry about your whoha showing. lol
It’s tough being a girl!
Gorgeous! That last photo is Oscar worthy! Loving the new old navy top, very cute and perfect for Spring.
Love the shoe color combo with the skirt.
I love the colours X
I just love all of your outfits! And I love that you write honestly about your fear of taking pictures in front of other people. I need to come over to McKinney and see your store 🙂
we live in Denton.
I am wearing also NAVY in my post today!!!! You look great with that nice skirt!!!
Built in biker shorts….excellent idea!!~
This outfit is just perfectly! Totally love it! xx
Speaking of Oscar clothing and biker shorts, for you…
Don’t ever say I didn’t do anything for you. 😉
Simple but I love love love the whole ensemble.
I like it! I feel that way whenever i wear heels and a skirt..it makes me feel famous like i actually have somewhere to go!
Yeah, I’m stuck in that 9 to 5 thing where skirts are the only solution to a comfortable day. But they still have their issues. The one in my post today prevented me from opening my legs far enough to take large enough strides to keep up with my husband, and also prevented me from easily getting in and out of cars. Another advantage to the biker shorts. 🙂
I LOVE that skirt. That blue looks awesome on you.
Very stylish. I love your striped top.
Love the ensemble and the pops of orange (red?) from the belt and shoes. And skirts with biker shorts are definitely the answers to any awkward problems involving skirts.
I so love your outfit!!! Love the pop of orange!
You look so cute! Very Parisian xo
Besos,Lela(I’d love if you checked out my fashion blog/shoe blog/etc!)
my problem with skirts: its still winter and my legs are pale. and probably still hairy from when i had no time to shave this morning.
haha, great post!
love ur outfit 🙂
I love the blue with orange! Skirts are uncomfortable for me, but I still love em! Your skirt is really pretty and I love the Old Navy shirt! xx
So pretty! Love that Old Navy top. I almost bought it- lol I should have since it seems to be so versatile! Love how you paired it with that skirt though!
xo, Elle from Living in Color.
The skirt looks so cute : ) Love the color!
xx Anna Rose
Love this skirt! Definitely a fun piece to have in your closet
I always feel like skirts are pretty fancy too! They always remind me of going to work. xo, rv
Love it! I used to wear biker shorts under every skirt when I was little. Maybe I’ll bring that back? I guess biker shorts are SPANX for kids.
That skirt is lovely- I totally wore wrap skirts too 🙂
Its exactly the same shorts/skirt combo of workout skirts that makes working out almost bearable!
If only someone really did wear Old Navy to the Oscars! Wouldn’t that be great? Emma Stone seems like the perfect candidate 🙂
I feel the exact same way about skirts and dresses. I just feel like I can't do anything! Too much work sometimes. I love this skirt though. Gorgeous color!
you hair is sooo cute, i am jealous!
Love the tulip skirt! And skorts were the ultimate growing up!! They’re like the mullet of lower body wear. Party on the outside, all business underneath.
Ah the functionality, the versatility, the possibilities!
bahaha you are hilarious!
I love this outfit! That pop of salmony-pink is gorgeous with the blue!
I love this skirt so beautiful!!
Haha agreed about skirts coming with shorts!
if skirts had shorts in them image the possibilities!
check out my blog and follow me!
stunning as always! i love that you put an orange belt in the mix!
Let’s petition to bring back the skort.
Oooh, I totally remember those skirt/shorts things! I would totally buy those if they made them now!
My mom recently reminded me that I used to wear cut-offs under all of my dresses and skirts so that I could easily ride bikes and climb trees. So, yeah, I’m bringing that back.
I love those skirts with shorts under them. Now wrap arounds have a whole new sexy dimension to them though.
I love how blue looks on you
Well, you do own bloom, so add biker shorts! haha. Skirts and dresses look great on you. I actually dont do well with pants. I feel so restricted!
Cute cute! I love this and can’t wait to start wearing dresses like this for my new job!! I’ve been MIA from here (and my blog) since I found out I got my dream library job!!!! YAY! Kendi – I’ve been following your blog for ages (Look! You brought out the classic red heels you’ve had forever!!!!) and now I finally get to pursue my dream career, too! You have been an inspiration – I hope I can pick up and start my journey as beautifully as you have!!! Keep up the cute outfits – is it sad that when I found out I got the job – my first reaction was, “YAY! I can finally wear all the pencil skirts sitting in my closet!!! Finally!!!!” 🙂
love that skirt! and i know what you mean about being too dressed up … i would never wear dresses and skirts if i didn’t have a dress code at work
Love skorts! (You know, skirts+shorts)
Haha I love wearing skirts because pants just don't fit me right. It'd be really nice if they came with built in biker shorts though!
Love your outfit, you wear Old Navy very well 🙂
You look absolutely stunning!!
Love skirts so much I seriously wear them everyday, except when it’s below freezing.
The skirt is beautiful! I love the color and cut. And I agree with you!!! If all skirts had shorts built-in, I would wear them so much more often! haha
Your skirt is so pretty! I wish it was warm enough here to wear skirts!
You should wear more skirts! They look great.
oh my gosh I love that skirt
Very nice outfit. Maybe the skirt is too long though!
The Life After
you look so elegant, so chic 🙂
I love the pop of color from the contrasts of bright blue and orange. So smart. I need to try this combo myself since I love color! Thanks for the inspiration.
Love the pop tangerine. And your hair is super cute that way. How did u do it?
Love, love, LOVIN’ the color of that skirt! Adorable!
I love the color and the cut of this skirt! Gorgeous.
Such Dainty pops of color, I adore this look
Effortless chic. I love it
great look 🙂
love the pops of color with the tangerine. love the way you did your hair in this shot. need a “how too”!
So cute! A little off topic, but not completely… I love your nail polish color. What is it? And I agree with the comment below, love your hair! I need a how to as well. =)
Hold on… where is this skirt from? I can’t find it.
Ah! I own that same top in navy + white and yellow + white and have been obsessed with it lately!
i have to concur with your skirt theory… or at least one side of it… i wish they´d come with built in shorts for comfort and safety! i always feel like i´m scared a strong wind will come and leave me bare naked and embarrassed! lol. i just got two striped tops from old navy and i´m also loving them!
Ok, so how many times did you flash today? Lol I love the skirt but the windy days would play a number on me!
I like the idea of wearing shorts under our skirts. How are you going to go down a slide like that?! Lets do this!
Your blog is the greatest. Sensational outfits and giggle-some writing. Keep up the awesomeness 🙂
Love your arm charms 🙂
Love the orange punch!
Orange and blue always works together so perfectly and I love how subtle it is here. Definitely going to have to go check out that shirt next time I hit up Old Navy.
Love this skirt! Where did you buy? Pls write me an email firstname.lastname@example.org
I love your bracelet! Where did you get it?
see my site
I have been buying skorts when I see them at thrift stores, They are a great summer option, I work at a church, but also with kid programs….having to go from meetings with the pastor to outdoor activities with 1st graders can be a fashion challenge!
Please sell that skirt online so I can buy it! Kthx. 🙂
Love the blouse! And you have my support on putting a pair of biker shorts underneath 🙂
ooo i love the skirt, such an amazing blue! does it crease easily? with skirts, i tend to get paranoid after getting up from sitting down that i have creases EVERYwhere! so unladylike 😉
I have become so attached to wearing tights under my skirts/dresses that in the summer when I can’t bear to wear them I am, in fact, much more often than not, wearing simple black shorts underneath! Then I don’t have to worry if it’s windy and my dress is light or if I happen to want to sit cross legged on the grass. I’ll admit I’ve had some funny looks when I do the later but I just laugh and explain, or just laugh.
I <3 these pumps! I never would have thought that bright coral shoes could be a neutral, but you inspired me to snag them from UO on clearance and I get multiple compliments every time I wear them! Thanks!
