I’m writing this as I run out the door to go see the fireworks in my parent’s town. And let me tell you, it isn’t as easy as it sounds to run and write while holding a laptop and trying to pick up wi-fi on the go.
As cheesy as it is, I love to dress patriotic on the 4th of July. My husband has probably been embarassed of me all day in my red white and blue. He finally made me take off my headscarf I made out of an American flag and talked me out of the Lady Liberty tattoo I wanted on my forearm. (She’d wave when I moved my arm just right, it was going to be the perfect tattoo.)
We drove by this cornfield and immediately knew this was the place for pictures today. And let’s be honest what’s more patriotic than a field of corn? Am I right, or am I right? Okay yes there is fireworks, the American flag, the Declaration of Independence, and then corn. But it made it in the top 4.
Happy 4th of July, friends. Hope it’s been a great weekend.

  1. i love the picture of you running through the corn. you forgot turkeys i think they are also more patriotic than corn, but what do i know? i'm just a canadian! lol.

  2. Love the look! It's only slightly holiday which makes it a perfect match for the day.
And yes, corn is definitely in the top 4!

  3. Love your take on red, white, and blue! Great photoshoot location.

I definitely went for it, too. Have to get the patriotic pictures up soon before I'm just a girl with strange color combo preferences…

  4. I flippin LOVE cornfields as a child of the mid-west! Cincy doesn't have them for some silly reason 🙂

  5. Did you also eat ice cream and wrestle a bear with a musket? I hear those are fairly patriotic activities. Or stealing the Declaration of Independence to find a national treasure. That too.

But the field of corn is perfect! There are a good number of those where I am, I should try this out, too. I think it's awesome going all out and patriotic on the 4th!

  6. Last day of freedom 'til the challenge. I'm glad you were able to pull off such a good lookin' and patriotic outfit.

See (read) you tomorrow for the first day of the challenge. Yay! I can't wait to see what items you picked, if there's going to be any resemblance with the previous selection.

  7. The photos are amazing for sure, but i had to stop and tell you how much I love a reason to color coordinate myself. I had sooo much fun at the grocery store today checking out everyone's red, white & blue attire. It really is fantastic how people celebrate our nation's birthday :0 As for me, I chose navy capris & a printed top that reminds me of fireworks 🙂 Not in your face Red, White & Blue but if you thought for a second you would totally get it 🙂

    Happy Birthday America!

  8. You look adorable!!! Love the whole outfit! I totally dressed in red, white and blue today too…I'm a geek for dressing the part! =) Happy 4th!

  10. I, too, wanted to wear my red skirt. But unfortunately, I didn't have much interesting to wear in the tops department. My dress was blue, though! I suppose it's the thought that counts. 🙂

  11. I rarely comment (but read every day) but after seeing these pictures, I just HAD to…Wow, this set is a-ma-zing!

  12. You look adorable in your red, white and blue! I don't think it's cheesy at all. I can't even begin to count how many fashion bloggers are posting their patriotic outfits (including me!) and they are all beautiful!

Plus…I think you should market that tattoo. You'd be RICH!

  13. Love this outfit!! And i'm totally loving the corn field scenery – I've always wanted to take photos in a corn field and you've actually done it! amazing!

  14. I love yoru outfit – when I drive by the cornfields on my way home, I always want to stop and take my OOTD pictures in them, but I don't have a tripod/photographer with me! I need to get a tripod….
