I still love prints and patterns but I find myself being drawn more to muted hues and solids here lately. Of course, when I see a print I love, I can’t help myself. When I picked this top up in store, the sales girl said that this print was much better in person than online. I didn’t know what she meant at first because I loved it in person, then I realized when I went looking for it that it really doesn’t pop online. It sure does in person though, it was the first thing that grabbed my attention in the store. Plus, Gemma wanted to eat it, so I think in baby language that’s approval.

I really want to find a few different ways to wear a print before I truly commit to it. This top definitely has muted hues so it’s easy to pair with my closet full of neutrals. In fact, it matches oh-so-perfectly with one of my favorite cardigans lately, this one from Nordstrom. It’s kind of an oatmeal meets pale pink hue in person (I know it’s hard to tell online!) and it matches this top just perfectly. I’ll never not love a matchy-matchy situation. Should we warn Gemma or just let her figure this out? I agree, let’s go with the latter.

You can find this top here (or in a dress print, too!) and this cardigan here in a range of shades. I’m in the ‘tan memoir’ hue, which incidentally is the name of my book about when I used to not use sunscreen.

Let’s talk these mules. They are exactly what I was looking for in a pre-spring shoe. Sometimes I get in a shoe slump when it’s in between seasons. Like I’m kind of over booties but I’m not ready for open toe shoes or sandals. So this shoe solves that problem. It’s like a part-time bootie, but full-time mule; the best of both worlds really. I have a feeling I’ll be living in these come springtime. For under $150, they are a really great quality and super comfortable. You can find them here!

Fit Details

The top runs true to size but is a bit cropped if you are tall or have a long torso. I’m 5’9″ with a long waist + boobs so that’s why it looks shorter on me than the model! I stayed true to size (medium) and it was great! The jeans fit true to size and stretch a bit after the first wear, but I wouldn’t size down. Cardigan is a bit oversized but I stayed true to size because I wanted that ‘relaxed boyfriend’ look, as they say.

Monthly Capsule Wardrobe

Each month I create monthly capsules out of my favorite pieces, perfectly curated for each month.

    1. UMMMM I just totally looked at mine and they nasty!! Bahaha — I guess that’s how I deal with it, by ignoring it. Mama needs a pedicure.

    2. Pumice stone & a good heavy moisturizer (a butter is good), with cotton socks worn to bed. Do this for a few days, and they should improve dramatically, then just do it whenever they start to look a bit Meh!

  1. I just cannot carry a peplum 🙁 I’m extremely long waisted (and short to boot) so they never work on me….

  2. This is a great outfit on you! Is the background of the top black or navy? Thanks!

    1. Okay, Honestly I can’t tell. I believe that it is navy from what I can tell!
