I may have taking a quick break from my camel obsession, but it’s back baby and this time multiplied. I love a camel scarf so much and mainly because it perfectly pairs with a casual sweater or all dressed up. That’s the sign of a good scarf, my friends. I wanted to pair a big cozy scarf with this camel dress and couldn’t wait to play matchy-matchy with my brand new bag. (More on the bag later.) Camel and black are my new best friends; always there for me when I need a classic outfit on the fly. This dress fits like a glove, which I’m starting to really appreciate. I tend to go oversized, oversized, oversized in the colder months. I think this is my form of hibernation. But last year after taking stock of all my sweaters, I realized that I’ve got to mix it up. Not everything can be oversized and cozy, Kendi. Be sure to give yourself a little bit of shape in the winter months, too. So I found this camel dress and loved it immediately. It is body con, but it’s flattering and can be paired with tights flawlessly. (Oh man, this one is almost sold out but I love this one here, here or this sweater dress in camel! No scarf needed with that one.)

This scarf in this shade is sold out (for now, I’ll keep an eye out for restock!) but if you aren’t into being too matchy-matchy, then any of these other shades would work perfectly with a camel tone dress! Autumn colors are the best at complementing each other.

Let’s talk bags. A few have asked about my designer bags and why I decided to invest in them. Last year I was noticing that I was buying a purse that looked like what I actually wanted. So I decided instead of spending money on a stand-in bag and I should save for the bag I really wanted. I bought my Chloe Marcie last fall and loved it every since. ( I think you can attest to this as well. I haven’t counted but it has appeared in many, many posts!) And that’s exactly what I wanted to invest in — a handbag that’s good for all seasons and that will last for years.

I’ve been looking for another black purse, one that feels a bit more fancy and smaller than my other black satchel. I had my eye on this YSL monogram bag for a while and ended up choosing this one, that I’m carrying because I loved the size and the way it closes in the front with the monogram. I find that if I’m going to invest in a purse, I make sure it’s exactly what I want. They certainly are not impulse buys, but very well thought out purchases. I find this to be true for anything worth investing in; no matter what your budget, a handbag is always something you should feel excited about investing in! If not, move on! If it doesn’t thrill you, then it won’t do.

I’ve partnered with Nordstrom to share some of my favorite classic handbags. In my opinion, they have the best selection of designer handbags and their shipping turn around is insane. (I get impatient, ok?) You can find all their designer handbags here. (Side note — I buy all of my handbags from there because of their rewards program. I save all of my Nordstrom Notes and put them towards my bag! I saved all my notes this year for this one.) Here are my favorite bags right now, some I own and some I just love! (This grey Chloe is on my wish list for Christmas.)

For those who’ve asked before, my favorite brands that I find tried and true on quality are Chloe, Givenchy and Saint Laurent. Those are my favorites and they hold up so, so well. My Chloe looks brand new and let me tell you it’s been through a lot. I also love 3.1 Phillip Lim and have really liked Tory Burch this past season; they have really great construction and I’m such a fan of her totes. (PS: If you are interested in how I clean / store my bags, let me know! I can put together a post about that!)

Fit Details

I’m wearing the medium in this dress and find it fits true to size. It’s definitely body-con, but fits true to size if not a little bit loose.

Monthly Capsule Wardrobe

Each month I create monthly capsules out of my favorite pieces, perfectly curated for each month.

  1. So classy! I love everything about this look – down to the black heels! Also – YES to how you care/store for your bags!

  2. I’d love to know how you maintain your bags! I’ve hesitated on buying more pricey bags because I end up destroying mine after about year.
