Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

What I’m Wearing: 
I mentioned this briefly last week that the Nordstrom Anniversary sale is on of my favorite times of the year. Because a)who doesn’t love a sale? and b) it’s a cheat sheet for fall. Around our house, I’ve given the sale a nickname (Annie) which I refer to frequently in the form of ‘me and Annie are going to drink some wine and shop’ — anyone who let’s me in on fall pieces early AND on sale is a friend of mine. Above are a few pieces I picked up last week with the early access. I’m always a fan of Equipment blouses but my secret is that I always get them at the Anniversary sale. Buying silk on sale —  it’s just the smart thing to do. I also picked up this jacket (worn here) and this simple dress (worn here). Obviously I’m feeling that army green.

But if you are gun shy to pick out your entire fall wardrobe just because of a good deal, then have I got a post for you. When I see a big sale like the anniversary sale, instead of taking a shotgun approach and saying ‘one of each please’ I take a look at what would be a good investment for the next season. 


Look for pieces you can wear year round like denim, for example. Designer denim at 30%+ off? Not a bad idea to get a pair, if you love them. Same with handbags, outerwear or shoes. Think now, later or even better now AND later. Kind of like the shoes I’m wearing above. Good for summer, good for fall. Double win. Here’s my guide to shopping the Nordstrom sale. Grab an iced coffee and try not to get too much work done today okay? Friday’s are made for shopping at work. (Don’t tell your boss I said that.)

When I think about year-round handbags, I think in terms of neutrals — grey, browns and blacks. Of course I love pink year round so that’s a neutral to me, too. If pink isn’t a neutral, then I don’t want to be right. You can see more handbags on sale here.

It’s hot outside. It’s all I can think about BUT if I try really hard I can imagine snow again and it makes me realize that yes, winter happens every year and coats are an essential part of my wardrobe. Just not for another 5 months. Thinking later on this one, but I know I’ll be so glad I did when it’s not so warm outside again. Above are my personal favorites, but here are all the jackets and coats on sale!

As with handbags, shoes are a great thing to pick up on sale, especially with high quality shoes. My favorites are linked above! And of course this fringed beauty, which I want in every color. (But I chose neutral obviously. When you can’t decide, go neutral.) You can find all shoes on sale here.
