A couple of weekends ago my husband and I went with some friends to a concert in Dallas. Not to age myself but it’s been quite a while since I’ve been to an actual concert, not just live music on a patio at the restaurant we happen to be at. Besides worrying about music volume and the state of my ear drums (should I bring ear plugs? she wondered), my main concern was what to wear. In college dressing for a concert was like second nature since we went all of the time. But I was at a standstill in my closet that evening — so little possibilities, so little time. I wasn’t prepped for this situation like I used to be. But I decided to go with my fall back (a graphic tee) and a mini skirt. The mini skirt was was very YOLO of me I must admit since this was a folk concert and not rock. I was in a sea of maxi dresses and I looked a little off with my edgy vibe in the midst of boho-indie. But you know, I only get out a few times a year so I had to make it really count.

  1. Haha, I hear ya – I once wore a blazer and beaded Madewell top to a concert where the lead singer kept screaming “Sex, Blood and Rock’n’Roll!!” and women threw underwear up on the stage. I’ll never forget the bra that landed on the guitarist’s head… I felt a little out of place! 😉

You look great though – this is much nicer than a maxi dress. 🙂

    1. Ray Lamontagne… and it was a sit down concert. Old people concert as I like to say 😉 I would have not been happy with myself if it was a standing!

  2. Love the outfit! You styled the tee perfectly for a concert 🙂 Also, I love the navy/black color combo

  5. Hi, Kendi
I believe this is the first time I’ve ever commented! I’ve been following you since the beginning of 2011. I always enjoyed seeing the 30×30 posts. Anyway, I’ve been lusting over your Teagan Cuff. Now that I finally have the funds to purchase it Nordstrom doesn’t have it anymore! I cannot find anywhere else that delivers to England. Do you have any ideas? Thanks 🙂

  6. Fun! I thought the concert was going to be Mary Chapin Carpenter…she wrote the song, “Shut Up and Kiss Me.” The tee shirt is great!

  9. I totally know what you mean by “I only get out a few times a year”!! It happens pretty often that I go out quite overdressed (and aware about it) just because who knows if it is going to happen again this season and I HAVE TO wear a certain piece before it gets too cold/too warm! I loooove your outfit and that tee, girl… gotta head to asos RIGHT NOW 😉

  14. I think that you had the perfect outfit for a concert, even if it was an indie concert (which I’m still curious as to what concert it was!). My boyfriend is in a band and you see people of all walks of life there, in so many different outfits. I find that most of the time, I’m the one that’s undoubtedly overdressed. But like you say, we have to make these moments count! All that matters is that WE feel good in what we’re wearing.

    XOXO
