There comes a time in every woman’s life when she just needs a new purse. I buy purses like I buy cars; I think, I compare, I purchase and I use it for 5 years non-stop. (Okay maybe not 5 years, but you get the point.) Surprisingly enough I’ve never been a handbag girl. Had my husband not bought this Madewell Tote for me last fall, who knows what purse I’d be carrying. So I’m on the lookout for a few new purses. Meaning I’ve started a spreadsheet, a secret pin board and I’m working them into our budget. Prepared I am, spontaneous I am not. I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like when we try to buy a house. We should probably start looking now since we want to buy a house in the next decade.

I feel like I am taking business casual very seriously today. Casual on the top, business on the bottom and… then my clubbing shoes. Because nothing says I’m a serious business owner to a bank like neon heels.

  1. I don't usually comment but I always read and think you're so gorgeous! You have the best taste in fashion and I love how witty your writing is!

And I've also been dying for a neon pair of heels like yours!

  2. Your shopping preparedness skills will come in handy when it comes time to buy a house. Trust me!

  3. I think the neon heels DO say you're a serious business owner if that business is a fashion boutique! They might be worried about your ability to run that type of business if you were in an ugly one-color pants suit.

  4. Being taken seriously is so overrated… they will notice and remember you- much more important 😉

  5. May I highly recommend the Rebecca Minkoff MAB Mini or the Cupid. I got the MAB mini and I love it, but now I really want the Cupid because it has lots of pockets on the outside for easy access and it's super cute and comes in millions of colors. The leather is great and I like that it has a cross body strap or you can just use the handles.

  6. I love that you added the club shoes… Screw the bank, nothing says, "I'm having fun today… oh yeah, and I own a successful business" like neon heels!

  7. that's what I want!! I've just never really ventured into that section of Nordstrom's so I'm sheepish when it comes to decisions.

  8. I'm very into this biz casual + clubbing shoes ensemble. I think it says you know how to get the job done but still have fun at the same time. A winning combo in my book.
I am very like you when it comes to purse shopping – it takes nothing for me drop dough on shoes but for some reason I feel like there is much more of a commitment when it comes to handbags…Can't wait to see what you pick.

  10. I am in love with these shoes. I have a thing for high heels right now for some reason. I went on a horrible shopping spree at Target and TJ Maxx and bought five pairs of high heels. I had to put the ones at TJ Maxx on layaway, for crying out loud. Please…take your neon shoes away before I steal them off your feet. 😉

  11. I love your heels! there's something about neon yellow that makes it just so much fun to wear. 🙂

  12. Love the shoes!
You're a boutique owner. So, you're allowed to rock the neon heels any time of day. My rule is: Those that work in fashion can bend the rule of professional attire (^_^)

  13. Your hair regrowth has me slightly pissed. Nah, not slightly, really pissed. What's in the water in Texas? All we have is fluoride…

  14. I'm an Underwriter for a bank and I have the same pair of heels. I wear the to work consistently. I'm one banker that can appreciate a fabulous pair of shoes.

  15. I am the same way! My boyfriend bought me a handmade italian leather purse a few years ago that I absolutely love! I carried it for several years and whined about how small it was. Now I have another one that I carry around and feel ashamed that I am not carrying the one he bought me.

I guess you can get attached to purses… like children?

  16. I am the same about bags! I just bought my first nice bag (and at 28 it was about time!). I decided on Modalu's "Pippa bag" in black. Pippa actually has nothing to do with the company … she just loves the bag so much they named it after her. I love it too, but if they called it the "Katie bag" no one would buy it.

  17. I just love your blog. Thank you for brightening my day with your posts! I can always count on you to make me laugh!

  18. Love the neon heels with the neon in your tee! 🙂

Bags are serious business, haha. I hope you manage to find your perfect one that is practical and budget friendly 🙂

  19. I love purses. I find the older I get, the more I look for a quality purse. I would rather spend more on something that is good quality. J Crew and Coach have some amazing purses.

Love your outfit by the way 🙂

  20. Your ability to tuck in the front of your shirt is a skill to be commended. My front tuck skills usually look like it was an accident in a rush out of the bathroom. Yours looks sleek and put-together. *applause*

  21. Kendi, I really want to ask you one thing…with all the things to do…I mean work n all…how do u find time to work out??? I assume you do workout..coz you look absolutely stunning…….. 🙂

  22. Love this tee! The fun thing about being a blogger is you get to be so creative with business casual and no one can judge you :)http://www.confessionsoftheglitterati.com/

  23. Hi Priya! Let's see I try to go in the morning if I can, which is typically a walk or a walk/run and yoga. I try to do this about 3-4x a week, if I can! But if not, I'm okay with missing a few days 😉

  24. I must commend you for your shirt-tucks. They always look so effortlessly chic. You should share your tucking method; I never seem to pull it off despite how easy it looks, lol!
