It probably looks like this top and skirt was made for each other. But in reality the top and the skirt came together months after the other was purchased. You see, I bought this skirt this past summer for a speaking engagement because nothing says ‘I know what I’m talking’ about like white faux leather. (File that in your brain under ‘important things Kendi has said and I should probably not do.’) I wore it casually with a tee because I’m cool and casual like that… but also because I’m last minute and couldn’t find another top that worked with this skirt. Fast forward six months to the other day when I was re-merchandizing the shop and this top was hanging there just asking to be paired with my white pleather skirt. How had I not seen this before?? They were made for one another. I’m just glad I could be the person to bring them together.

Also I can’t wait to re-wear this whole get up in the spring. It looks pretty damn fierce without a coat over it. As do most things, but I’m trying not to rush the seasons this year and be happy with the present. We will see how this goes. I give this zen until February.

  1. I love making outfits from two pieces (from two different brands) that were just meant to be together. This is such a great look on you!

  2. That top and that skirt really do seem like they were meant to be paired together. I really love the idea of wearing this as an all white look during spring and summer, but both pieces also look very elegant when paired with a black coat and pumps.

  3. The outfit looks great, but I couldn't even tell it was pleather because the contrast on your photos is so high, there is no textural detail on your top or skirt at all. I don't comment often on the blog but it would be really helpful to see more detail in the clothing. They're way too edited to really see them.

  4. I can't believe that you picked these so far apart!! The set does look like it comes together, I love this entire look! 🙂

  5. Hi Kendi,
This outfit is polished and classy, yet cool and edgy all at the same time! You totally outdid yourself with this outfit! I wish I had somewhere in my real life where I could wear an outfit like this. You are killing it! Amazing!

  6. You can never go wrong with black & white! I love when a piece that has been sitting in my closet finds its counterpart. The top & skirt are, without a doubt, meant for one another 🙂
