You might notice in some of these photos that my pocket is in the front. Halfway through shooting B said “is that your pocket? there in the front?… that’s not right.” I looked down and realized I’d put the skirt on crooked this morning. It’s technically Monday for my brain, ok? But this is actually good because when I put the skirt on this morning, I started searching for the pockets and couldn’t find them. I was certain that the last time I wore this skirt it had pockets and I was thinking that my memory was slipping. Seems a little early for that. Apparently it was also too early this morning to put clothing on correctly. So yes I am happy to see you and yes that is a pocket at the front of my crooked skirt.
I was going to write about how to wear neon in the fall, but the front pocket mishap really won this post over. A useful and informative post will have to wait until I learn how to put clothes on correctly.

  1. I'm on the couch sick today. They say laughter is good medicine, so thank you for the laughs:) p.s. I've enjoyed your black & white/neutral styling lately, but I realized how much I've missed your color combos with this post! I just bought a bright yellow skirt a few weeks ago – hooray for another color idea to wear with it!

  2. Never would have noticed if you hadn't said something, lol! Oh well, you still look great! I like this color combo, it's kind of like where summer meets fall which perfectly describes the month of September!

Unless you live in Texas where we don't get fall weather until late October 🙁 (if any at all, haha)

  3. Oh I just love the burgundy paired with the neon. SO pretty! You look gorgeous! I've totally done the crooked skirt thing before where the pockets were totally in the wrong place. It happens to all of us! 🙂

  4. Love the unexpected color pairing! Any tips for a daring color to pair with neon pink?

  5. Wow what an amazing colour combination, I love it! I don't think I've ever taken photos of an outfit where there wasn't at least one hood inside out or miss placed pocket.

  6. Ha! Once my dad was at a store and went to reach for his wallet (he sometimes carries it in his front shirt pocket), he said out loud after touching his chest and not finding his pocket "Oh, that's strange. I thought all my new shirts had pockets." A woman behind him said "It's back here!" as she wiggled her finger in the pocket on his backwards shirt. 🙂

  7. Oh, the Kate Spade Cedar Street bags…currently one of my obsessions! Love it!

  8. I love that you did this…and that you included the 'mishap' photos in your post! Makes you so relatable. 🙂

  9. Kendi, you probably did put the skirt on correctly, but it shifted as you walked. I have that problem all the time. The sway of my hips and my gait twists my skirts around, and it's always quite embarrassing.

  10. I am glad I decided to catch up on some blogging reading today (since the first day of classes distracted me from my usual morning routine) because this post just made my night. I cannot stop laughing and it makes me feel better about clothing mishaps that have occurred to me. I'm just usually too embarrassed to tell people about them so kudos to you for that. I will say, I didn't notice the pocket mishap at first and kept thinking how I love the neon with the darker hue. The pocket definitely takes the cake here 🙂

  11. LOL–you are too funny. Love your sweater. I wish it was cool enough to put on a sweater here. Apparently summer has decided to make a last-minute appearance here in MD.

  12. I wouldn't think to put these 2 colors together! They really complement each other.

  13. Kendi!

I don't even know you. Well, a little bit, thanks to your blog. But I must say with all honesty…I love you! Your posts are funny and awesome and real and inspiring. If I were to one day start a blog, I would take most of my notes from you. Not to mention, who would have thunk to wear burgundy with neon green/yellow? I love it. Love it all!

  14. Definitely LOLed at that one! I have put skirts on the wrong way SO MANY times. Realizing your pocket is in the front while in public is definitely not easy to get used to. For me at least. haha!

  15. I am very hesitant to trying bold colors especially neons, but I love how you paired the neon, baroque detailed skirt with the maroon sweater. The detailing brings the sophistication that comes with maroon. I'm definitely inspired to experiment with color more!

I hope you have a wonderful day!
    much love, Joycie
