This weekend, I cleaned out my closet and discovered just how many striped items I own. I’m really not sure if I should be embarrassed or proud. I’m leaning more towards proud, really. This dress is the newest in the stripes collection I’ve been hoarding. I’ve been hanging on to it since we got it in at Bloom (it has since sold out. Sad when the good ones go first.) It just wasn’t a dress I wanted to wear with tights. Luckily it was sunny yesterday and I was able to wear it just the way I wanted to.

Honestly, I’m just proud of myself for wearing a dress on Sunday. Usually when Sunday rolls around I’m over clothes, outfits, and anything that doesn’t have to do with brunch. But if you can’t sleep in and/or drink mimosas past noon, then a new dress is a pretty good trade off. (I’m extremely easy to please.)

  1. Cute dress!  And I love your shoes.  I have to say though, I've seen a lot of bloggers wearing shoes c/o Shoemint lately, but when I search reviews of most shoe clubs, I see nothing but negatives about difficulties in unsubscribing, poor customer service, poor quality shoes, etc.  Have you ordered from them (not c/o) and had a good experience?  I haven't found unbiased reviews (good or bad) for this club specifically.

  2. Yeah, stripes are definitely something to be proud of. My closet has the same problem, but I can't help buying more stripes. Each one seems different than the other ones I already own!

  3. Such an adorable Sunday outfit! I love this!!

  4. Oh you should definitely be proud. I have more than enough stripes in my wardrobe, but what did I do yesterday? I ordered this from J. Crew Factory because I don't have a shirt that is both striped AND colorblocked so naturally I needed it. Right? Right.

  5. I gave up buying clothes for lent (WTF, right?) and it is taking all of my willpower to stop myself from buying that dress online. The funny thing is that I've got a similar dress on RIGHT NOW. I really have a problem with buying stripes.

  6. Love your dress. I too have a million stripe items in my closet and i love it!!!!Dont' forget my link up this thursday and I"m doing a fabulous giveaway for a stella and dot bracelet.

  7. SO jealous of your weather and bare legs, lady!! And yes, definitley be proud of your stripes… currently, it's the only pattern in my wardrobe! 🙂

  8. Love this dress! And agreed – definitely one to wait for a no-tights day. 🙂 And I say be proud of your stripes. We're an elite club, us stripe hoarders!

  9. love! was going to get that bag in hot pink this weekend but am really try to curb my spending…at least on things I don't really need!!

  10. I also "cleaned" out my closet this weekend. About once a month I get so frustrated with my closet lay out that I rip everything out of it. Rearrange the wire shelving, put things back, love it for about a week, then find something that irks me. I let it slowly drive me crazy until I'm in there again in a fury, ripping it all apart. I don't think I'll be happy until I have one of those "closet rooms". Anyhoo – there's always a good find or two amid my chaos, like how you uncovered your bevy of stripes 😉

  11. I love that you are a Target shopping too. hehe I have that same purse! Love the outfit. My hunt for a denim jacket continues- tough when you are tall!

  12. So this outfit has cleared up any doubts I've had about buying a demin jacket. Off to get one tomorrow. Thanks for answering the question you didn't even know I asked.

  13. Love this outfit! Stripes are my new favorite, and the color yellow too! Awesome 🙂

  16. I have the same problem with polka dots.

    also you're awesome.

also I just purchased those shoes, and a cute crossbody, so thanks!

  17. I am not sure which one that I like best, the fact that you are wearing yellow shoes or the fact that dress makes me really want to go shopping.

  18. These pics inspired me to purchase my first jean jacket since middle school. Its so easy to pair it with just about anything for spring and I just purchased a similar striped dress from old navy! Thanks for being you!

  19. Love this outfit! I too own a lot of stripes, and am proud of it. It does however just occur to me, the two tops I bought yesterday, also have stripes. Guess my collection just got a little bigger!

Love your blog, and your witty sense of humor!

  20. Love the combination of mustard yellow with those black and white stripes! I wish it was warm enough where I live to wear an outfit like this.

  21. I have a very similar striped dress I'm waiting to wear. It's too cold for bare legs and I don't think it'd look to great with tights. Dang weather!  I've also got the same problem as you but with polka dots. I swear that half of my closet is stuff with polka dots on it. It's a bit crazy!!

  22. I love effortless outfits.  Sometimes I think fashion/style bloggers try so hard to push the envelope and be different, and it's outfits like these that get me all excited.  They're so accessible and simple, but classic and wearable at the same time.  Love it.  I'm looking for a similar denim jacket and hoping I can find one soon to pair with all my dresses this spring!

  23.  I have so many striped things in my closet. I'm pretty sure by the numbers, stripes tie with polka dots for my favorite pattern. 🙂 I wish I could wear warm weather clothes like you, though!

  24. The dress is adorable and the way you worked it into this outfit is very cool. I love the pop of color with the yellow shoes!

  25. I hear you vis-a-vis the stripes thing.  I own so many striped things, yet I always seem to forget that when I'm faced with a clothes rack of delicious stripes in basically any store.  Now I have to take friends with me just in case I run into stripes and need ot be talked out of buying that same thing I already own, but oh, this one has a v-neck and I only have a scoop neck… Yeah, that happens.

So jealous you can get away with dresses minus tights BTW.  Boston is still stuck in the Ice Age.

  27. Love this outfit. The stripes, the flats, with that jacket! Perfection! Now I'm debating those shoemint flats…

  28. I am the same way with stripes and maybe polka dots too.  In fact, I was in Marshalls today holding a red/blue striped blazer and debating if I should add another striped blazer to my closet.  (I behaved and put it down).  I love the swing cut of the dress – so fun!

  30. Love the jean jacket! And I feel you on the striped items, whenever I see them all hanging in my closet it starts to look like an unhealthy obsession.

  31. Black and white stripes are so in vogue right now. The dress looks great on you and the denim jacket it's the perfect match.

  32. I really wish it would warm up here in DC so I can wear those shoes! I got them as well and they're just anxiously awaiting a little bit of sunshine so I can show them off! Great look!

  36. Love those shoes — I've been debating purchasing something similar, but I'm worried they'll make my already skinny/long feet look even weirder. Le sigh.

I just finished up a 30-30 and would be honored if you stopped by to check it out!

  38. I am so jealous that you are bare legged! Great dress and I love the pop of colour with the shoes!

  39. Cute dress!  I'm a fan of stripes and apparently anything in the gray/charcoal/black family. I've seen those shoes all over Instagram, but I can't really wrap my head around them.  They aren't flattering in any capacity — I don't get the appeal.

P.S. That wall gets a lot of action.

  40. That is exactly how I feel by the time I get to Friday every week. If the outfit can't be worn with Chucks – its probably not getting worn.
And you most definitely should be proud of having an extensive stripe collection. I think that stripes are the equivalent of wardrobe gold. 😉
Love the dress btw – I am envious of your stripe-wealth.Candida

  41. I'm so jealous that you can wear the " warmer" clothes, we have about a foot of snow here in Iowa! As soon as I seen your shoes I tried to get them but they were out of stock.
I want you to know that looking at your site gives a little brightness to my days lately. My husband had a triple bi-pass in August & now is in the hospital with bladder cancer surgery. Also my son is in Afghanistan!
    Keep brightening up our days!
