On our last full day in NYC we decided to take on two big museums during the hottest day of the heatwave. Us and everyone else, that is. That’s the thing about good ideas, you’re usually not the only one who has them. This was the first subway trip for Gemma and she loved it. I told her she’s an actual pro now at getting around NYC. We took all the transportations you could — subway, bus, uber/ taxi, ferry and the best one, of course: your own two feet. We got to the American Museum of Natural History at opening time, but so did everyone else so we stood outside for a bit but once inside we were thrilled. This was one of Gemma’s favorite museums. And they had a soccer exhibit that we spent so much time in. We don’t have any photos of us in the museum because by Friday, she was over group photos (I get it.) But if you get a chance to go to this museum, do it! Perhaps on a less busy day, but you get what you get in a heatwave 😉

We hit up the Shake Shack close by and then took the bus to the MoMA. This one was another favorite of ours, albeit very busy by mid-afternoon. A/C is for everyone in a heatwave and if it means we get to cool down AND appreciate art, then I’m cool with that! We got to see so many cool paintings and pieces of art and Gemma created her own ‘art hunt’ of sorts and enjoyed marking off each piece on her map. We headed back to the hotel, caught the Argentina v Cape Verde game and found us some Italian food for the night!

I wore this very comfy outfit for the day because I just knew that this was going to be A DAY. I was so thankful for comfy shorts and shoes. Did I look like a tourist with my crossbody bag and sneakers? Of course. Did I care? Absolutely not. A tourist I am and happy to be! Plus my purse carried my very important water bottle. Besides my sneakers, this refillable water bottle on this trip was a life save.

I love these shorts and so glad I took a chance on them this summer! The colors are very late 90s and I appreciate the pops of bold hues. I’m in the large, but they run generously. This is a looser fit on me. Find them here 🙂
