You guys, we were a mere hour away from seeing the two people who climbed to the top of the Empire State Building from here! We saw them on TV at lunch, right after this and we were shocked! Had we been a little bit slower we would have gotten a real show. Instead we got there early (around 9:30) to beat the heat that day! By the end of our tour, it was getting pretty warm in the direct sunlight. If you haven’t done the top of the rock, you should! It’s an easy trip up to the top and it’s a nice open view all the way around the city. You can see Central Park so clearly, too. It wasn’t busy at all and it was a nice introduction to our NYC trip for Gemma.
After this we went to the NBC Studio Tour. I feel like no one talks about this but it’s such a fun little tour! It’s around an hour and half and you get to tour SNL, Jimmy Fallon and behind the scenes of how they shoot and record in the studios at 30 Rock. At the end of the tour you get to make your own version of the Today Show. Gemma was the first volunteer so she got to be a host, while I was the last volunteer and got to stay quiet in the control room. They send you the video after the fact and everything! It’s a really fun thing to do with older kids, if you’re looking for an easy tour to start your trip off with.
In all of my planning, I really wanted to wear this little linen set from Spanx, but was unsure if it would be too warm. But it was actually a lot more lightweight than I remembered! It was perfect for this first day. This wasn’t the start of the heatwave yet, so it was hot but not too bad and this fabric luckily stretched and breathed well. I felt comfortable all day. And while I probably wouldn’t pair this with sneakers on a typical day (I’d go ballet flats!), it actually looked really cute with my tan sneakers. Super comfortable option I picked up before we left, by the way! The most comfortable Adidas I’ve had to date.
PS: Spanx is offering 15% off with the code KENDIXSPANX! I just checked it and it works! If I had to go with just one piece, it would be the shorts. They’re pleated with a button in the front, but elastic in the back. Extremely comfortable! Both pieces run slightly generous, I’m in the large and they’re a bit loose. Stick with your TTS fit.
