Layering is one of my favorite tricks in the book and it’s especially welcome in the fall. I feel like layering kicks my outfit up a notch every time. Layering sweaters and scarves is a no-brainer these days, but when layering more delicate pieces I try to keep my layers simple and not too complicated. I found this ruffle collar blouse from LOFT and knew it would be the ultimate layering piece this fall because it’s thinner fabric and the ruffle is just the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. (Also this is most definitely TMI but as a blessed in the chest lady, I struggle with finding blouses I can button all the way up to the collar without it looking funky. This one passes the test!)

When I picked up this little crossbody for my trip to San Francisco a couple of months ago, I had no idea how much use I’d get from it! It is the best little companion when I’m looking for a simple black bag. It does a great job as a little black bag, perfectly complimenting any outfit. (This one is Rebecca Minkoff but I found a similar one for under $50 here!) Needless to say it compliments this pretty knit dress, as if she needed any help. I know I say this with most things I feature in the fall but I can so see this sweater dress with tights and booties later on. In fact I’d go out on a ledge and say this dress is a three season dress — it can work for autumn, winter and spring. Just change out your accessories and outerwear as necessary. Double duty — wait triple duty dresses? Yes please.

  1. This is a great, great outfit. Only Kate Spade could do stripes like this and it just flatters in all directions! I love this on you! Want that dress so bad.
