Kate Middleton Hair Day 2, success. This time the wind cooperated. Yes, I might be slightly obsessed with her, I might be pouring over photos of her on the internet for hours. Printing them out and making wallpaper out of them. Asking my husband to call me Kate…Middleton. But it’s really that I just like her hair. And that I’d like to be invited to the wedding, that’s all.

Do you ever put on an outfit that takes you by surprise? That’s how I feel today. I don’t want to take this outfit off, even if my husband told me that I looked like I needed a small pony to go with my outfit. I took it as another reference to my current K.M. obsession. All royalty needs a horse. I have my prince, I have the hair, I just need a horse. And apparently a small one.

On a side note, I think Ralph Lauren would really like my outfit today. But then again, he’d like it better if there was a small pony in the picture with me. Man, sometimes you just can’t win.

  1. if you get invited to the wedding, could i go as your 'date'? and KM would totally wanna borrow that blazer and your boots for her rides around the small town in wales where she'll be making her royal home 🙂

  2. I am in LOVE with this look! (Ok, not really in love because that would be creepy, but you know what I mean.) Fabulous and oh so fall!

  3. I'll admit, I had to google Kate Middleton yesterday, but now that I know who she is – you actually do look a lot like her! Or rather, she looks a lot like you. How crazy!
    I love those red pants!

  4. Sara — Whatever on the she looks like me compliment but I will take it!! Plus someone told me the other day that I look like Rachel Ray but with a better body. I'll take Kate Middleton over RR any day of the week. 😉

  5. I stumbled across your blog by accident, but I totally feel like it's becoming a daily routine to check it! Total style inspiration! And today's red pants are fab-u-lous.

  6. This outfit is something I would never put together, but now I want to find similar pieces so I can do just that – it's amazing! That's why I love blogs!

And I'm super obsessed with Kate Middleton as well. I read a report today that "they" are thinking the wedding will be in March of 2011, and I'm going to be in London for a week this March. I'm hoping so hard that I'll be there the same time…although it would probably make everything more crowded and difficult, the thought of being in the same city at the same time as their wedding ceremony is thrilling!

  7. Ah! Love KM too and of course the outfit as well! The necklace is amazing in this too!

In fact, I'd love to post pic #3 on my homepage if you are interested :).

  8. Haha Kendi you are funny!! I love this outfit, it is so bold! I think you should have posted the unibrow picture…

  9. You keep throwing together items similar to ones I own and I keep putting them in the bank for future reference. But then I end up having to do a search on your blog because I was too lazy to save the picture… or bookmark it. This will probably continue to happen, why shoot a dead horse?

I feel like I might have just made up that expression… I blame all the mentioning of horses in this post. (I just googled it and I haven't found "why shoot a dead horse" Maybe I should inform google.

So enough about dead horses… I have similar red Zara pants that I found for a few bucks and I've only thrown them on once. this is a good combo.

  10. I am having the same obsession with Kate Middleton. I am so thankful William brought her into our lives.

I'm lucky my boyfriend already calls me Kate. I need to work on the Middleton part.

  11. I laugh at Kate Middleton, mostly because whenever the press get photo's that aren't planned they both look miserable. I also find it really worrying he thought his mothers engagement ring was a good ring to give her, that marriage didn't work out very well, I think the ring has a bad history which makes it creeepy.

  12. LOL! Kate, I mean Kendi, You could be one of the only bloggers who I always read the text below the photos word for word. And I agree with the need for a small pony. Your outfit looks like you stepped out of the Ralph Lauren windows in NYC!- Katy

  13. I like her a lot- except this one photo I saw of her in a matching tweed suit (which was a miss). But when you're royalty I think there is some sort of tweed rule, the more the better?

  14. GAP should send you a check, cause I JUST bought those cords! Booyah.
If my small pony, you mean "Little Pony", I think you could make that happen the next time around.
    You look fab as always!
    Katie

  15. Ah, love this outfit. I love the way you have been mixing colour lately! And Kate does have quite gorgeous hair, doesn't she?

    X

  16. Apparently she's now going to be referred to as "Katherine." At least, that's what they said on the news last night. Apparently "Katherine" sounds more royal? Particularly since she will become a Dutchess.

Um, I also think you need a big hulking sapphire engagement ring to go with that Kate Middleton look. Try dropping hints around your husband, you never know… :p

  17. I'm obsessed with your blazer! The red pants don't seem like they'd work but they SO do!

  18. from the moment i saw the title of this post i KNEW you were wearing that jacket!

i knew this because i have one JUST like it and refer to it as my Ralph Lauren Jacket even though it's h&m. 🙂

this is a great outfit, kendi, and you're right, unexpected!

meanwhile, your healthy obsession with kate middleton is so cute! i vote you as the blogging world's kate middleton and i vote we all pitch in to get you that pony!

    🙂 xo
    i wander, i wonder

  19. hello kendi, i'm new to following your blog and i've just gotta say you seem like such a lovely lady. all of your outfits are wonderful, i just love your playfulness and creativity with your clothes… love those red cords, you're really making me like red now 😉

  20. I say something about the colors every time I comment, but you are getting so creative this remix with your pops of color! And I still want that blazer, it's super. Just super.

  21. I'm envious of the way you can totally rock those red pants. They look great on you!

I was trying to think of who Kate Middleton reminded me of, and seriously, Kendi, it's you. You both have fabulous hair, a great smile, and a classic, stylish, and well accessorized wardrobe. 🙂

  22. I am loving the way you rock those red pants! Your hair looks amazing…kate Middleton should be jealous.

  23. I think you and your husband could have taken this photo shoot to the next level by using the zoo as your background. Then you could have pretended that you were on an African safari in Ken-yer (that's Kenya with a Brit accent). You could have then had your husband propose to you again…. and then live happily ever after while gazing at the zebra exhibit. (they're sort of like horses) (:

  24. Also obsessed with our KM!

And I've been told I look like RR, too, and for the record, you and I look nothing alike except for brown hair. I wasn't enthused over that comment, either.

I'm beginning to think anyone with brown hair and lightly tan skin "looks like RR" to someone.

Anyway…back to KM. Her upcoming wedding makes me already want a do-over with mine JUST so I can wear a knock-off of whatever dress she picks out. Sick, sick, sick. ANd to correct the comment above about her being duchess, she's actually going to be queen. It's a weird reverse discrimination thing with royalty, but Kate will be queen, though Camilla can't be, even when Charles is king. I know. Sick obsession.

  25. You are a frakin crackup 🙂
we get once daily doses of your fantastic humour but your husband gets you every day. how does he cope??haha

  26. The colors in this outfit are so interesting and bright! I love how you tone them down with the tweed blazer and boots!

You totally have KM hair. I think Mr. Everyday needs to look into getting you a mini-horse. Then you guys could get a cart, and drive around your small TX town with the horse and cart!

  27. Yes, I love your preppy look! And now I know why Kate Middleton looks so familiar and relatable to me — she looks like you!

  28. Love this look! I just recently realized that all my bottoms are neutrals. I really want to get some color in there to play with, and these pants look great!

  29. I didn't even know I needed red skinnies and yet here I am, online window shopping. Darn this 30 for 30 thing and every one else's cute wardrobes!!

  30. Dear Aunt Kate (if we're delusional, let's go for it !)

Uncle Ralph would be proud and sister Kate would be flattered…May be she'll send you a royal pony to start a friendship ?

    Caro xxx

  31. & Heidi Lauren (not my last name) would really like your outfit, too!

I would have probably walked away from those red pants, but I'm glad you're not me.

    Love it. So much.

    Only two. Word sentences.

    🙂

  32. You crack me up!

I love this outfit. The color of that shirt looks so good with your blazer. And of course, the red pants are super cute. I for one like the outfit with or without a small pony. Haha.

  33. I've been curious to see these pants in your remixes…love this outfit. I think you should keep it on until you get a pony!

  34. Love love the outfit!!! You make me want to go out and buy a pair of red pants. Anways, I have been on the search for a new pair of brown'esq colored boots and everytime I see these Steve Madden boots of yours I want them. I can't figure out tho if you have the cognac or wine colored? Please, do tell!? : ) Thanks in advance..

  35. Kendi, I LOVE! this outfit. Way to rock the red pants — I love how bold they are, but how you've paired it so tastefully with the neutrals in the blazer, top and boots. And I am super jealous of your K.M. hair. 🙂 Hope it was a lovely day!

  36. At least you have a better body than rachel ray??

Also.. I asked you a bit ago about using a picture with the lace skirt from target. I finally put the post up, so I just wanted to let you know. Thanks!

  37. You are seriously rockin' those red pants. Love! If you need a pony, I need two beer steins. Wait till I put my pix up tonight. I'm just a couple steps away from being the St. Pauli's girl. There were so many ridiculous comments made, I couldn't take myself seriously at work and just laughed about it.

  38. This makes me laugh because I was crushing on her hair too and now I realize everyone does that too.

I love how your boots are the perfect match for your shirt!

  39. I think all girls in their 20s who grew up swooning over Prince William want to be Kate Middleton right now. I love your entire outfit. If I had that outfit on I wouldn't want to take it off either.

  40. Awesome outfit! I love love love the pants 🙂

P.S. I'm sure you are well aware of this, but I just saw a dress over at Modcloth named after you! What an honor!

  41. This outfit is gorgeous. Love the contrast of the bright red against the brown – such a wonderful color mix!

  42. Again, I never would have put this outfit together, but I think you look fabulous. Love this outfit. I especially like the jacket layered with the long sleeved tee/sleeves. But really, the whole thing is great. Adorable.

  43. Love the outfit, love ponies,
but really wanted to say congrats on being modcloth blogger of the moment! 🙂

  44. lovely! this is one of my favorites! i love the classic color scheme as well as the silhouette. you look awesome!

  45. I was Kendi too for 20 years. Then I got married and started going by my full name. I always liked it. I've never known another Kendi but a friend linked to your blog today so now I know at least one other.

  46. Hi Kendi,
    I love your blog!!!
This is a great outfit! I especially love the boots. I actually purchased them recently (after seeing you wear them!). I blogged about them and linked to this post. You really know how to incorporate them into different outfits!

    Cheers,
    Mel

  47. Ok first of all, I LOVE those UO red heels! They're actually not in this outfit but the one from yesterday. I know they're from UO-are they as vivid red in real life as they look in the pic? If so, do you know the specific color? I have the same shoe in a couple colors…and I ordered the red but it turned out to be a very faded almost coral color….

    Thanks!
    -Lauren

  48. you make red pants look really good. love how you mixed it with colors i wouldn't normally think. then again, i dont really think color-wise. love the outfit as always

  49. Hey Kate! That's all I came up with (then nothing, for over five minutes). Another five minutes later I still don't have a witty comment, so this will just have to do: Love the look and as always admire your humorous way of blogging! xox, Macs

  50. Please do a "How to Get Kate Middleton Hair" tutorial! I've been told I look like Kate Middleton AND Rachel Ray (yet, I don't think they really look alike, so I am all sorts of confused, but, okay). Now I want the KM hair to back it up. Love, love the outfit! Maybe there will be a pony for Christmas?

  51. Very super cute outfit! It also took me by surprise. Love the color coordination, everything is very nice! You are cracking me with this whole Kate Middleton thing…

  52. LOL!

Honestly, where do you come UP with this stuff?! It's SO FANTASTIC!!

The best part: '…Asking my husband to call me Kate … Middleton' LOL YES!!

This outfit turned out soo great, and it SO reminds me of Ralph Lauren… sans the horse… small horse, that is.

  53. Lauren –

My UO pumps are more of a coral red as well. They pretty much turn up different in each picture we take, unfortunately. Also, mine are getting very dirty so it's changing the color to be a little bit darker. If you haven't already go get suede protector and spray away.

Long answer short: my UO pumps are more of a coral-red than deep red. They are the Red Suede ones from UO. Did that help you??

  54. i love your coat. in fact, i just proposed to it and she said yes. we talked about it and we think it would be best if she came to live with me. so if you could rap her up and stick in an envelope that would be great. k thanks a bunch!

but for reals though. i love it and it looks great! 🙂

  55. Oh how I love this outfit! It really took me by surprise but I can honestly say that this could probably be my uniform for a while now, and I wouldn't get tired of it. Although made up of rather simple pieces, their colours, textures and cuts really take this outfit to a higher level!

  56. I love how you incorporated the red cords, they really give a great splash of color to the more neutral parts of your outfit 🙂

  57. So I am sure you get this all the time: I love my closet, and have learned a lot from the remix, but can I just have your closet pretty please?!

This is one of the top 3 looks I've seen so far from you. I just LOVE it!

  58. I love the way you paired these red pants. I have a pair that I wear hardly ever, for lack of knowing what to wear them with…however, today, I got a pair of brown boots. new inspiration for my red pants, thanks to you? hmm..yes, i'll def. have to give that a try. just want to let you know. 🙂

  59. Because of COVID-19, I became a worker in the garment industry,be a womens wholesale clothing vendors and I learned a lot from your article, which I didn’t know before, thanks! Hope you and your family are healthy!
