I feel like we didn’t really get a chance at spring this year. Perhaps May and June will be nice to us and give us a little bit of spring before we hit full on heatwave. Whatever comes our way, one thing is for sure: always expect the unexpected.  I think spring to summer is one of the easiest times to use your closet to transition seasons. Layering makes it easy, too; too hot? Take a layer off. Too cold? Put a layer on.

One style that can work just about always in spring and summer are crops. I used to be scared of crops, to be honest. It’s a direct fear I developed in 7th grade resulted from wearing non-voluntary crops because they didn’t make tall girl lengths yet. But once I got over the fact that crops are now a choice for me, I like them. They are  kind of the essential weekend pant, too. Anything that goes with a chambray shirt is a weekend pant in my book.

Need a few more ideas on styling? I got you, girl:

< to the office / maybe sans the hat >

top / hat / earrings / crops / shoes / sunnies

< weekend wear >

jacket / clutch / tee / crops / sandals

< on the go >

sweater / tee / crops / sneaks

How do you style your crops this season? Casual, dressed up or on the go?

    1. It’s from Brandy Melville but I couldn’t find it online! I’m still looking for an alternative that’s more like this one 🙂

  1. Cute! I love that floaty striped shirt.
Man, crops are IT for me; I don’t like shorts so me and capris/crops are best friends all summer long. I have super short iddy bitty widdle legs, so capris/crops can help them look longer if I get the length just right. I wear a lot of tank tops and crops on weekends in the summer, but can’t really wear them to work.

  2. I love those pants and they are perfect for the weekend.I have a pair of grey ones that i love.

    Agi:)

  3. I love the weekend look. The pairing with the denim shirt and leopard print is something I would totally wear. You said you hated crops because of being of being tall while growing up, how tall are by the way?

  4. I’ve always stayed away from crops because my ankles are the size of toothpicks, it just doesn’t look right. They look adorable on you though, keep rockin ’em!

  5. This is a great post! I’m moving to Houston in mid-July, and I’m a little nervous about dressing for the weather (I’m from Virginia, so I’m not used to Texas heat). So I really appreciate these posts about seasonal dressing! 😉

  11. I love crops for short girl reasons — they fit me like regular pants that don’t need to be cuffed. If I buy “regular” jeans, I always have to cuff them at least twice. Crops offer me variety without the necessity of the cuff.

  13. They look great on you, but I am never keen on crops on myself! I have huge issues with trousers in general actually!

  14. lol – I went through the 7th grade unintentional cropped pants phase too…
I am quite happy that cropped/ankle pants are now in-style – this means I can get away with buying regular-length pants and passing them off as “ankle length” 😉

  16. I love the crop pants, but they don’t look right on me. I would like to know where the top came from. I saw at the bottom some similar tops, but they just didn’t do it for me.
