12.10.15-1

I’m writing this post with one hand today. Why? Because this girl fell on the ice and fractured her elbow.

That’s right, just two blocks from my house I slipped and used my pointiest body part to cushion my fall. I will have you know I was wearing sneaks with traction and not heels. So far in my life, heels have never let me down. Sneakers? You’re starting to be on my shit list.

It was an altruistic journey out of our house though. After being locked in for four days,  we thought it was nice enough to go for a walk. This is why I don’t train for marathons, look what happens when I try to go for a nice nature walk on frozen sidewalks in ill-equipped footwear. I’m not chancing it. All that to say, outside of showering and outfit photos, I’ll be rocking a sling. Anyone have a bedazzler I can borrow?

Speaking of footwear, I decided enough with traction today I’m going with these heels, thanks to Sole Society. At least for a few hours anyways, until I realize it’s futile and I put flats back on. Flats with traction. Sigh.

I call this the “the heels I wish I was wearing instead of flats” collection from Sole Society. Enjoy:

  1. 1. The post on my blog today is called Black and Blue too – so in my mind it's now confirmed that we would totally be friends if we ever met
    2. Love this look (as usual) and if anyone can make a sling look effortless it's certainly you
    xx

  2. that's a bummer about your elbow! ice is a seriously tricky little pain in the butt. wishing you a quick and easy recovery!

but on the bright side, at least your hair is looking seriously fantastic in these pictures. 🙂

  3. Oh no! Well can I just say, I'd love to see how you rock your clothes with your sling. Is that weird? Idk, maybe you pick different clothing, or you pose a different way. Would be interesting to see the thought process involved.

  4. I'm in favor of bedazzling the sling and rocking it in your outfit photos. I bet it's only a matter of time before slings are "in." Make it happen.

  5. Oh my goodness!! I'm so sorry Kendie, I almost did some falling myself. That ice out there really is treacherous!!! Sorry you got hurt, but at least you look fab as always! 🙂

  6. Poor you!! Hope you heal quickly !!!! This won't help you at all but the other day at the NIke store my husband found a great pair of super traction casual nice shoes with fleece lining…great for guys…women…eh I would try something else : ) I finally was able to get a flight out of Dallas, but while I was stuck in town bc of weather I noticed the sidewalks were quite sanded..I rubbed the bottoms of my wedge sneakers in that to try & get a bit more traction…worked in a pinch situation!

  7. Trust you, Kendi, to turn a personal tragedy into a hilarious blog post! Wishing you a speedy recovery! 🙂

  8. I'm sorry to hear about your fall… I do stuff almost as bad as this constantly. I always end up with bruises and have no idea where they came from. My short term memory isn't large enough to remember all of the times I run into something, so who knows where the bruises come from! haha

Your hair looks like it has blue in it!!! Does it? It looks fabulous!

  9. wow you're doing a good job of looking pain free! irecognise that arm hold – i fractured my elbow slipping on ice exactly this time last year! hope you get well soon! your arm will be fixed in that position when you get your sling off i guarantee;)

  10. Hi Kendi! Hope you have a speedy recovery. I feel your pain, i am quite a klutz myself, getting mystery bruises, etc. Take care of yourself!

  11. ohhh girl! I saw that sling of yours on instagram. I had to laugh a little because I've had 4/5 ice-inflicted injuries pop up in my feed. Damn that ice! Get better soon!

  14. Oh no, I am so sorry to hear you got hurt! I hope you recover quickly! How long will it take to heal? You are so awesome to dress to match your sling, though! 🙂

  15. That's awful! Hope all heals well! Heels never fail, every time I get a serious injury, I'm usually barefoot or have flats on, so I blame all of those times on not wearing heels, too.

  16. Ouch, I hope you gell well, soon.

Please do not start to wear a sling with black feathers like Mariah. I think she looked like The Crow meets Glitter.

  17. I'm been into navy a lot lately as well. I just posted about this great sale on H&M.com and two of my favorite finds were great navy coats for $30 and $40 when they were originally $50-$70!

  18. oh no! ice is the worst 🙁 it always gets me on my butt at least once a winter! hope you heal up soon…dressing yourself (and basically all everyday tasks) become so much harder when you only have one good arm!

  19. Very sorry to hear of your fall, but i love your sense of humor about it. : ) I also love these sole society shooties but, alas, it is only 1 degree outside this morning and I can't justify the purchase yet. I'll keep dreaming, you keep healing that elbow.
